On 22-APR, I took a 1998 **** Explorer via AAA to the vendor for repair after confirming via telephone that they would make repairs to my vehicle drivable for appx $900. On 26-APR, after receiving notice from their office that ALL repairs had been completed, I went to the vendor to make payment and retrieve my vehicle. While I was there, the vendor informed me that they had NOT completed ALL repairs to make the vehicle functionally operable, but they still expected payment in full for the services that they had rendered. I informed the vendor that I would not compensate them for an incomplete job, and they believe providing an insufficient repair was adequate to claim payment, as there was nothing further within their current shop's capabilities. To be clear, I informed the vendor to let me know if there would be any additional charges beyond the agreed amount. I would neither have authorized the initial repair job to be started if the company had been transparent and communicated that their repairs would not have actually made the vehicle functionally drivable nor would I have taken my vehicle to this location initially for repairs to be completed had the company been more fully transparent. Due to this organization, a single parent has been without any stable transportation for the last nearly three months solely due to this situation. Please help, as I would like to have either my vehicle returned with the repairs that were originally promised, which would be the repairs that would restore the vehicle to normal road operations, or the cancellation of the charges of the charges that do NOT cover repairs of the vehicle so that the vehicle can be released back to me and taken to a different vendor of my choosing. Thank you.Business response

To start with, Athena ***** called Auto Tech Plaza , had the *************************** with a power steering / rack & pinion issues. The explorer was parked outside our shop. It was not derivable so we did our initial inspection outside on the ground . At that time we only saw the broken tie rods. After getting authorization for $900.00 from ******, We were able to get dollies wheels under the explorer to repair & align. It wasn't until we tried to align the explorer that we noticed the mount for the r/f lower control are was bent, keeping us from getting all the readings into spec. We aligned the best we could. The explorer is derivable , but will wear tires. It will take a frame shop to make perfect.
The customer complaint was " something wrong with the rack & pinion" . Hitting something was never brought to our attention.. That would of pointed us in a different direction. The final bill came in under the original est $ 758.99
