  Today is May 27th, 2022 on this date at the time of 3pm my wife and I were attempting to have a digital check cashed and upon arrival we were met with rudeness and inconsideration. We showed the digital check for 17$ which my wife had won playing a bingo game on her phone. When the rep for the check cashing place received the check they immediately yelled fraud and would have no more communication with us other then telling us if we wanted the check back we needed to call the police which we did and upon the police investigation and calling the number provided to verify the check it was returned by the police. United check cashing did not attempt to verify the check then slandered my wife and my name by yelling fraud. There was no reason and no call for the reasons for them to not attempt to verify the check rather than wasting tax money on a police call that was not necessary and something they should have done themselves. I want them held accountable and responsible for there racial profiling and rudeness and lack of business ethics. Also for wasting my wife and my time along with the ***** I also want retubution for the money lost in time and fuel in remmeding this matter and starving my 5 children, wife, and I for the weekend as this was the only money we have till Tuesday and now getting the check back after the banks and other check cashing locations have closed we have no way to cash it or feed our family this holiday weekend.

  Thank you for reaching out and allowing us to respond to this complaint.
  The check in question looked fictitious; it was printed on regular printing paper not check stalk, the back part of the check was printed on top of the check and our system wasnt able to read it. We kindly told the customer that it was likely fraudulent (which we have on video;never shouting); the customer just asked for a copy of the ********************, which we gave her and she left. Her husband came in right after and told us (at a loud volume) to look at his phone which raised more red flags as we deal regularly with situations where a person is being defrauded. He wanted us to call the phone number that he provided but, we are taught not to use phone numbers provided to us as these could be involved in the fraud and we are instead required to independently verify them using a publicly available phone number. We were never loud throughout this interaction as we did not know if she was the victims of a scam. I told the husband that I couldnt give him back the check as fraud detectives with CSPD have told us that they want us to take the checks away to get them off the streets. I told him that he would need to call CSPD in order to get the check back. He did and the Police eventually came, which were uniformed officers and not fraud detectives, and eventually told us to just give them back the original check, which we did. If they did use the number to verify the check, that still does not indicate the check was legitimate given the various red-flags that we've mentioned.
  We are encouraged by local fraud detectives as well as our financial regulators (including FinCen, Homeland Security and the **** to refuse service to customers if we believe they are being victimized or if they themselves are attempting to defraud us as a heavily regulated ***** Services Business.
