Affordable Remodeling did a bathroom reconstruction in our home, upon near completion it was discovered by us that the tile work was terrible insufficient, corners and edges of tiles, sticking up, making walking on them painful. Owner, **************** refused to repair, and soon thereafter the water leaking started. ******************** people attempted several repairs, unsuccessfully, so we hired a regular licensed company to address this. This company needed to open the area in question which found numerous other deficiencies, like major support beams that had been cut in half and not repaired, and other pumping issues that were not performed up to the required State Codes. The new contractor company is in the process of repairing all of the deficiencies, but *************** and or his company is not willing to cover any of the needed costs that were necessitated by his deficient work. I have requested that **************** provide the name of his insurance company and the names and professional licenses of his workers, **************** to date has perfused to do so.

      Business response

      02/15/2022

This is in response to the complaint my company received on 02/06/22: On June 18, 2021 my company entered into a contract to remodel Mr. ********** master bathroom. We began the actual work on about September 30, 2021. Several change orders were made to the scope of work that added to the costs and time table of this project, including expanding the shower pan and making it curbless so *********************** who has several health problems that make it imposibble for her to walk without assistance. Mr. and *********************** chose some very specific tile for this project, a tile that is very hard and gritty. They wanted this tile because *********************** is afraid of slipping and falling. We also changed the form basic shower fixtures to two shower fixtures on opposite sides of the shower with Mrs. ********** having a bench with arm rests(that she requested) as well as 6 jets and a shower wand. my team performed several punch lists for them and on the last day we were there to perform what we thought was a final punch list(11/26/21) myself and and one of my subs removed some more tile for ********************** in the shower area as well as on the floor. ********************** stated they wanted a perfectly flat floor. I showed him the **** standard for large format tiles that allows for lippage because of the way they are made. ********************** then refused to pay a progress payment. The leak in question; we did find that one of the jets was leaking, and we repaired it. ********************** then emailed me and said there was another leak, I offered to send someone over to investigate it but he declined the offer. All the water lines and valves had been under pressure for almost two months so I figured it was one of the jets, but do not know for certain. The support beam in question is in actuality a floor joist and is not a major support beam. I was unaware that it was cut and offered to repair, but he declined that offer as well. And finally, during the course of this dispute on 2 seperate occasions I offered to reduce my final invoice by $1,800.00 and then by $4,000.00 because as I tried to explain to **********************, I did not believe he would get the perfectly flat floor they are looking for. It has always been my goal to make sure my client's needs are met and I have tried without success to do that in this situation. The contract we agreed to is very specific in areas of this nature and I have done everything in my power to resolve it.
