We contracted Paragon Moving Company to move our household from *******, ** to ****************, **. During the actual moving process, the on site movers broke a $2400 sculpture, one which had been purposely set aside in a "do not touch/move" section of our home (along with TV's, AV equipment, computers, etc.). Despite our request they not touch any artwork, the movers tried to disassemble this metal sculpture and actually broke five welds (hard to believe). When asked, one of the young movers explained he'd broken the sculpture himself. The supervisor on site told us Paragon would cover costs for repairs and/or replacement and that I should file a claim for reimbursement. The supervisor and I both took pictures and agreed to follow up after the actual move. Important to note: this sculpture was NOT included on the actual shipping manifest, as it was never intended to be moved (so, not subject to normal moving insurance coverage rates).Upon receiving our household goods in St. ******, we contacted Paragon to file a claim. Their representative asked us to email them photos and an explanation as to what transpired. We did so promptly the next day. We never heard back, so reached out again the following week. Paragon's representative indicated they would follow up shortly. This went on-and-on for nearly 10 weeks, after which Paragon simply stopped responding. It has now been nearly six months since our move and we've yet to receive any response or reimbursement for our broken sculpture.

Paragon movers intentionally low balled me a quote to get the job then when they had the truck halfway packed they raised it over a ***** dollars. Charged me for stairs, per 5. For having to park near the sidewalk, for walking to far. You name it. Then they refused to move more than half the furniture upstairs and just left it in the garage. They broke a ***** dollar tv and destroyed a 600 dollar bunny cage. Scratched and scuffed the walls. They have refused to answer my calls and wont respond back to me

We obtained an estimate for moving our household furnishings and good from ********************** to ********, ** on April 25, 2022. The initial estimate was for $15,882.85. Upon arrival and before the movers could even walk through the house on May 23rd, ***** (supervisor) said, "Oh, we are going to have to re-do this estimate based on the size of your house." The revised estimate was a 75% increase! I tried to talk with the original estimator, *******, and was basically threatened by dispatcher, *******, that they could bring back everything they've loaded thus far and I wouldn't pay a *****. They knew they had me over a barrel with timing and our scheduled move.I was told initially, we would need a full semi; however, that was later denied during the new estimate. After all our goods were taken, I was told we would need a full 53 foot box trailer and a 26 ft straight truck. All in all, we were charged for ***** cu.ft. at $5.10/cu.ft for $25,204.20 plus a 10% fuel surcharge of $2,520.42.Upon arrival on June 1, 2022, in ********, ** - there was a 53 foot box trailer that was not completely full. There was a secondary straight truck which the driver said contained an additional 900 cu.ft. however, according to photos this was grossly over-stated. Basically, Paragon needed the extra truck and driver to oversee unloading and to get their moving blankets back. You can see the content of extra truck didn't even go past the first side door. Less than 300 cu.ft.I believe we were overcharged at a minimum ***** cu.ft for $5,100 and more in the neighborhood of ***** cu.ft. in excess of $7,650 plus the fuel surcharge. Online reivews seem to show this is a normal course of business for them.I have tried to talk to them and they are very dismissive and think I am in the wrong.

Thank you for forwarding this matter to our attention.

We have reviewed the customer complaint filed against ********************** morning &storage regarding overcharge on pick up date.
The customer hired ****************** to perform a long distance move from CO To AL on May 31st, 2022
The pre move estimate costumer received prior to her move shows a volume of **** CF for $15882.85 with a specific list of 271 items to be moved
The estimate clearly states this is a binding estimate based upon the specific list of items to be moved and services as listed on the estimate
Customer E Signed this estimate agreeing that she had read and understand the quote and if additional items will be added the price will increase accordingly prior to any services being rendered our ****** conducted a walk through with the client going over any changes
Customer signed for this revised price and charge appropriately.
however, when the job was completed, the customer loaded a total of 423 items which included many extra items that were never listed on her estimate. as such, the price increased based on actual volume services and supplies used.
We have also offered the customer a full refund of the deposit paid in advance to reserve her move if she decided to cancel her move with Paragon
As for the customer claiming that ******* our customer service representative threatened to bring back everything, we have loaded on move date
We keep recording of all conversation with our customer and we listen to the conversation ******* had with the customer
At no point ******* made such a statement the only option ******* gave the customer is if she is not happy with the price the customer can hire a different ********************** company to complete her move and we would not charge for any of the services and labor costs preformed on those two days
This customer received numerous Opportunitys to cancel her move with paragon with no penalties or any changes.
after the move was complete, we issued a $1876 refund an adjustment to meet with the true value of the shipment.

Attached is an email that was sent to the customer
      And her original estimate

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

      Complaint: 17326785

I am rejecting this response because:

The business practice of your original estimate is misleading and appears to be intentially fraudulent. There were no more furniture items than listed on the original estimate. For example on the original estimate an item was listed as 'table' for '1 item'. When your movers took the table apart - it magically became '2 items'. A sofa on the original estimate was listed as '1 item'. Your movers took the back **shions off and it magically became '3 items.' ******* told me on the phone May 23rd that your software system automatically accounts for this; however, your response seems to contradict her statement.

You are missing the whole point of my complaint. That Paragon Moving & Storage over estimated AND CHARGED for the final move.

You charged us for a final estimate of ***** **.ft. at **** per **.ft - $25,204.20

The box trailer was not fully packed. Which if it did would have held a maximum of ***** **.ft.

Your driver, ******* said there was 950 **.ft. in the straight truck he drove. Which magically would equate to almost the ***** **.ft. if the box trailer was packed to capacity.

The semi driver told us the straight truck was packed prior to the 53 ft. trailer indicating the direct intent to bring down a second truck.

You can tell by the photos and dimensions that the straight truck had 300 **.ft. *** and had your company loaded the box trailer correctly and as strapped in as the straight truck; all of our belongings would have fit in the 53 ft. for a max ** ft of ***** and we would not have seen the damage we did as indicated in the photos as well.

I believe we are due a refund of ***** **. ft. at $****/**. ft equaling $5,100 less the 'discount' of $1,800. The overage amount $3,300 X the 10% fuel surcharge of $330. A total refund of $ $3,630 is due us.

Additionally, since your calls are all recorded, please listen to the call between ******* and myself on May 23rd when she in fact told me after your movers had already taken 1 straight truck back to your facility that if I didn't like the new and final estimate she would send it all back and not charge us a *****. Yes, I had to accept the higher estimate because we are on a legal time line to vacate; however, it is an estimate and Paragon Moving & Storage OVER ESTIMATED THE FINAL LOAD AND A REFUND IS DUE OF THE FRAUDLENT AMOUNT AND PRACTICES.

      *******************

      Sincerely,

      *******************
