On March 11, 2021 , I signed a contract with Michael B******, the owner of Professional Paint & Remodels, to replace my roof at my rental house. He agreed to remove the roof, repair the roof and install new metal roofing. The contract was for $17,000 for all labor and materials. He required a $6,500 prepayment upon the execution of the contract, which I paid. He provided me with numerous start dates and he never started the work. In April he asked me to get my insurance company involved for a claim which delayed his start date through April. In May, he stated that he had bought the metal for the roof and it came to his location the wrong color, so he said he reordered it. He gave me a start date June 28, then July 8, then July 14. On July 16. On July 8 he said he had 2 guys in Covid quarantine until July 14. July 16 he said a very sick crew. July 20 he said he will start July 29 and didn't show up. Aug. 4 he said he and his crew were very sick and will get the roof done asap. Sep. 7 I asked him to drop the metal off at my rental. Sep. 8 he said his family has been sick and to bear with him. Sep. 9 and 14 I requested the metal to be dropped off again or take a picture of it. He gave me another start date of 9/25 which he missed. Then another start date of Oct 4. I sent him a Termination of Contract on Oct 4 and required a refund of $6500. The last time he contacted me was October 1, 2021. On Oct 21 I asked him to drop off the metal or I'll pick it up. I also said if he didn't purchase the metal to send us a cashier check for $6500 and thanked him for his good business practices. All of this contact is on my cell phone text messages. I would truly appreciate any help you can provide to get our prepayment funds back.
