On January 8th, around 1:20 am, I visited this establishment and was discriminated for being a DACA immigrant.I presented my government issued ID as this is a bar and I was turned away rudely because it was an immigrant ID. In ********, undocumented and non resident aliens are given a standard license as opposed to an updated ID and are slightly different. ******** issued IDs for immigrants, which I have corroborated with the *** and TABC are valid forms of ID for showing proof of age at bars, have the words not valid for federal identification, voting, or benefits and all that means is it cant be used for those things along with presenting it in federal building establishments such as courts, military bases, etc. They are valid forms of IDs for bars and driving. Someone with a TABC certification is trained to know this AND is common knowledge to any ******** native with a driver license. However, when I presented my ID, I was told they would not accept it there. I believe this to have been an act of discrimination as its specifically an ID given only to undocumented immigrants and a bartender with a TABC certification is required to know this. I explained this calmly to the bartender working there night, that this is the IDs issued to immigrants and he quite frankly showed not to care which was dehuminizing and said he would not serve me because he said my ID, that I was issued by the Colorado ***, he simply doesnt think is valid. The bartender acted condescendingly and belittling in addition.I felt extremely disrespected. As a recipient of DACA, we already deal with discrimination daily and of all places, a bar is not where I would have ever thought to feel discriminated against as well. We struggle daily with our immigration status we didnt ask for as we were brought here as children against our will. All Im seeking from this is for an apology by the bartender and to not be refused service for my immigration status by this establishment.

I am rejecting this response because:

This response didnt address every point I brought up. It did not answer as to whether I could return to the establishment; offered no guarantee that I were  welcomed at this establishment again, which was one of the desired resolutions I included in initial message. Secondly, the bartender on the date I included is the one who was rude and disrespected me and made me feel discriminated against for my immigration status  and the response I get did not feel genuine as it wasnt directly from that employee.

I am seeking acknowledgment in error doing on the establishments behalf and wether or not I, *****************************, am welcomed back here to hopefully have a better impression this time.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

In response to ******************' rejection, I will again reiterate my apologies on behalf of ******'s Denver for not recognizing a valid ID. When discussing this matter with staff, we heard a very different story than of the complainant's account, and it includes concerning behavior by the complainant upon being turned away, which subsequently led the bartender to reinforce asking the complainant to leave. We require that our bartenders check everyone's ID, maintain our right to reserve service to anyone, and encourage the complainant to exercise his right to patronize any other establishments he chooses, given he feels uncomfortable and unwelcome at ******'s Denver. We do not, and will not, ask our staff to personally resolve issues that involve management and our establishment's legal liability.

      Thank you,
      ******'s Denver
