We signed a contract with Connolly Construction to complete a ************** remodel and refinish the floors in a ****** condo, with an expected start date in early February. An initial payment of approximately $25,000 was made in January. No work was ever completed. ****** Connolly was very poor at proactively managing the project to a start date (our initial check was never cashed) and communication was lacking...I had to chase him for updates on a start date regularly from April * August. In early August, we made one last request to receive a committed start date. He did not reply. We then informed him that we would not be moving forward with him and requested that he return our keys. He never acknowledged our email or replied. He was originally recommended to us by ******** *************** I had to request their help in returning our keys. ****** displayed a complete lack of professionalism and his actions indicate that he is not effective at managing a business. A full trail of our communications from contract signing is below.January 20, 2021 Approved estimate and sent signed contract to ******.To: ****** Connolly Date: 01/20/2021 9:25 PM Subject: Re: Estimate 00*12300 from CONNOLLY CONSTRUCTION, **** Hi Rod * This is fine. Signed copy is attached; let me know how you want to handle the deposit. I'll be in ****** next week if you are available to meet so I can drop off keys. My travel is not as regular, so not sure if I'll make it back before you start. I want to make sure you're still ok with storing the furniture while the floors are done. It's the couch, console, dresser and bed. Everything else will be removed. I'm hoping to sell the ****** bed soon. If not, that needs to be removed in the demo. Lastly, want to confirm the size of the puck light holes for the floating shelves. The company's standard size is 2 1/4" but they want to confirm what size the electrician wants (5 lights in each shelf). Thanks,XXXX January 22, 2021 Received an emailed from ******, requesting that we initial all pages of the estimates. From: ****** Connolly Date: 01/22/2021 11:22 AM Subject: Re: Estimate 00*12300 from CONNOLLY CONSTRUCTION, **** Hi XXXX, Thank you for the signed contract doc. I also need the estimates all signed and dated please. I am trying to get a current project all wrapped up so I can start yours as soon as possible. I did send all insurance certificates to the management company but have not heard back from them as of today. If you would like you can either send a check or maybe we can meet next time you are in town. I will also need keys and any other needed devises to enter the building before we start. When I am closer to a firm start date I will reach out to the build to inform them also. Let me know if you need anything more from me. Hope you are well. **************** Connolly President ********************************** 22, 2021 Received an email from ******, indicating that he is going to be delayed in starting. From: ****** Connolly Date: 01/22/2021 2:01 PM Subject: Re: Estimate 00*12300 from CONNOLLY CONSTRUCTION, **** Yes Call when you can I have a new glitch that will delay things Sent via the ******* ************** an **** 5G Evolution capable smartphone Get Outlook for Android Sent: Friday, January 22, 2021 11:20:03 AM To: ****** Connolly Subject: Re: Estimate 00*12300 from CONNOLLY CONSTRUCTION, **** Are you free one day or eve next week. Unfortunately, I've incurred a number of other expenses in preparation of an earlier start so my budget is more than stretched. I'm not concerned about how long the job takes to complete...quality is much more important to me than time.
