The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) has put my business on payment hold and now says they have 365 days to reimburse me. This has never been the case. I was reimbursed weekly until the end of February (2024) when the payment hold began. The ************************* is the legal representation for HCPF and they suggested I contact the BBB.(For reference) Gainwell Technologies is the managing company for HCPF. I have attached a copy of the email I sent back to HCPF regarding Gainwell Technologies.Initial Complaint

I am writing to file a formal complaint against ********************** First Colorado regarding the handling of my health insurance inquiry and subsequent billing issues. The details of my complaint are as follows:1.I contacted ********************** First Colorado to inquire about health care coverage options after losing my employment, which provided full benefits for over 30 years. A representative explained that I could fill out an application to assess my eligibility for benefits through ********************** First Colorado. Despite expressing uncertainty about my eligibility and suitability for the program, the representative assured me that I could explore options without obligation to enroll.2.Following the application process, I received mail from both ********************** First Colorado and Denver ********************** Medical (starting 2/21/2024) at which time I called to decline (via VM message) due to the fact that I was able to obtain insurance through my retirement benefits (Cobra). I received a bill from ********************** First Colorado for $629. I contacted ********************** First Colorado AGAIN in April to express my decision and received assurances that my policy would be cancelled (at that time the bill was 1259.42)3. Despite the previous assurances, I received another bill from ********************** First Colorado, now totaling $1889.13. These unexpected charges and inconsistent communication have caused significant stress. As I expressed to ********************** First Colorado, I was able to obtain health benefits through Cobra for significantly less per month without having to change any of my health care providers! This experience has certainly caused un-needed stress. I am deeply concerned about the deceptive billing practices and lack of accountability demonstrated by ********************** First Colorado throughout this process. I kindly request that the BBB facilitate a resolution that includes confirmation of policy cancellation and removal of billed balance. Sincerely,***********************
