I have received emails from this business and other unsolicited newsletters, daily trivia, and advertisements from multiple businesses listed at this address for the last three years. I have repeatedly requested to be removed from mailing lists, but a new business with a new name at the same physical address will re-contact me again after a few months. I cannot tell that the address is real and can't find a phone number to contact the business(es) to file a verbal complaint.

      Hi there,

We have removed the user from our subscriber list and have informed the user they will no longer receive emails from **.

I'm not sure what additional steps they could take, but this isn't the first time I've received an email from them stating I've been unsubscribed. I went about six months after the last time (in 2023) and then started getting emails again. I wish I could find out how they are getting my email address, because they don't seem to be a real company and I didn't sign up for their distro.

      Complaint: 21313488

I am rejecting this response because the response provided was neither helpful nor accurate in its instructions. I went to the website provided by the company in their last response: ***********************************************************************************************************************. It states, "For more details and information about our privacy practices and how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed, please visit the Privacy Policy on the relevant brands website." What if I don't know what the "relevant brand" is? Also, it doesn't answer my question about where multiple companies under Optimism Media are getting my email address, repeatedly.

Then I tried to "view my personal data" - which took me to a dead-end, blank website titled "DS Portal". [Request ID = **********]

Next, I tried the "opt out of sales, sharing, or targeted advertising" - again, had to confirm my email and, again, blank website. [Request ID = **********]

Finally, I went to Optimism Media's website, read their privacy policy, and followed the link to their "Privacy Portal". I submitted a request to access my data and, guess what, had to confirm my email and yet another blank screen. [Request = 9T96Y6WQW7]

At this point, I assume the company is purchasing my personal information from a third-party website - I did not give it to them. Their responses were opaque and their "privacy portal" is non-functional, which altogether seems like shady business practices.

      Sincerely,

      Cam Kovarek

I don't want to continue interacting with this company. Every step of what should have been a simple request has taken way too long and been unnecessarily difficult. Their data practices are intentionally opaque - after more than a week, I still haven't gotten a response to my formal opt out request through their privacy portal (I don't trust being told I'm off the mailing list, as I've just be re-added to their unsolicited communications in the past).

Point being, I'm fine closing out the case but don't want to indicate that I'm "satisfied with their responses".

Thank you in advance for helping me navigate this issue.
