K&D Development installed new plumbing to our second floor bathtub. The hot water pipe was cut too short (per K&D plumber sent to assess damage) and separated from the tubs supply line. The room below the bath on the first floor has significant water damage. This is the second time this has happened. K&D came out to repair the leak initially but failed to do so. Their plumbing failed again and ruined the drywall and trim that had just been repaired on the first floor. We want compensation from K&D in order to cover the costs to properly fix the plumbing and repair the damage to the first floor. We have gotten multiple competitive quotes from other companies which can provide evidence of fair compensation. We have reached out to K&D multiple times only to be ignored.Business response

I hired this company to redo our steam shower and fix a few things as a result of a leak. The bid was for $13006.19. I put down a deposit of $6,256.19. They have used poor workmanship and the whole thing needs redone from scratch. The manager who I dealt with introduced me to the tile person that was to do the job, but decided he was too expensive and instead used an in-house employee that was not qualified. The owner later fired this man for "screwing up other jobs" after mine. The company has lost a lot of money on this job and said she refuses to put any more time into it, will not give me any of my deposit back and will not pay another company to fix it (although the manager said they would have another company fix it and they would pay. He got estimates and never got back with me). It has taken them over a year so far for a job that was to take only 14-17 working days. Tiles are not straight, don't line up, the bench holds over 2 quarts of water, their employee cut through the membrane which is the barrier for the water to keep it from leaking...and a few days ago two marble tiles fell from the ceiling over the door and just missed hitting my husband’s head as he exited the shower. I also didn't mention that they kept causing issues and having to come out repeatedly and fix them--they cut my electric to the bathroom lights, cut the steam unit wire, which I had to pay to rewire, damaged the steam sensor, used chipped tiles, didn't caulk or grout properly, etc. Now I am in a position where I need to start again, and redo the entire shower, and I am out the $6K+ deposit. There is a stack of tiles outside that they left in the elements and have not moved to a safe place which they said I can keep; however, I am not sure if they are in good condition. I just spoke to the owner and she will not do anything to try to rectify this situation. She said their job is complete, but I shouldn't use the shower. She wasn't sure why tiles would fall off. The client is seeking legal action, this is something that will be resolved with insurance and attorney, she text yesterday claiming she was hiring her attorney, then calls me asking for the money. I told her at this point you think you are right, i think i am and we are going in circles, so let's have our attorneys handle it.
This woman cannot make up her mind, is impossible to work with and now after a year of her project being done, and USED, is complaining about it. Because of the tiles falling from the ceiling, probably due to them not allowing it to dry. The refused the recommended a transom, which is a piece of glass that goes along opening and can be moved up and down to regulate moisture/steam. The installer installed the tiles to the best of his ability, they did not match on each side equally (size wise when cut), but none the less were installed properly. The only issue there was the bench top holding water on the back corner, so we custom fabricated an expensive piece of Quartz, She refused to allow us to caulk and seal the bench top in due to caulk color, removing the bench top that was made to stop the bench top right side from holding water.
Her complaint is she didn't even pay in full for the shower and now, wants back $6,500.00 (her deposit) - for the tile work she isn't satisfied with, she is not even counting all of the work that was done to get to tile, and after tile. There is many items, that she has to use towards the $6,500.00, please see attachments showing totals of what work was done that is worth above the $6,500.00 amount. Thanks!
