This business is one of the biggest scams I have experienced in the last year. I have contacted them in the past about survey disqualifications that did not pay the 5 points incentive. They advised to ignore the site message as they don't credit for that. I later took a survey for 150 points that I completed successfully but nothing was credited again. I contacted them but no response. Today I completed another survey about a home sale and completed it successfully in about half an hour. It displayed that I earned 150 points, but nothing was credited. I also got a text today that I qualified for a home product test. I am afraid that I will waste my time since they are not going to pay me for that either. Their terms and conditions link does not work. I also suspect that they are affiliated with other bad businesses like Clear Voice. They need to fix the crediting system and compensate me for the past due. I don't care if they have no record of it. That's their problem. I don't take surveys for free.

      BBB,

We have been in contact with ******** about his complaint. He didn't realize he had two accounts open with us, and he was looking at the reward history for the wrong account. We have resolved this misunderstanding and he should be all set going forward.

Please let me know if you need any additional information from us to close this complaint.

      Thank you,

I have been testing various at-home testing products with Thrifty Pig ************** for the past 4 months, but I have not received any compensation for my time and effort. Despite reaching out to Thrifty Pig on a weekly basis, I have not received any response. When they do contact me, they claim to be contacting the manager but I have not seen any resolution for the past 3 months. I have emails to verify this. I have been in contact with them bi-weekly for 2 months, warning them that I will file a complaint with the BBB if my issue is not resolved. Before filing this complaint, I contacted **** at Thrifty Pig via phone, text, and email.( I am missing credits from their partner Ipsos for the body wash (product # *** at-home test, as well as credits for a shampoo test(dandruff testing shampoo) and drink diary studies AND APRIL PAYMENT DIARY RECORDING ALL MY TRANSACTIONS).. Despite my repeated attempts to resolve this issue, I keep being told that they are contacting the project manager. I have all the emails between me and **** at Thrifty Pig documenting this situation. I warned them for months and did not want to file this complaint please let me know if you need survey numbers and Job numbers. I also can not remember the exact price for everything i would say between 40 to 60 dollars.. i also agreed to keep all this information private because im testing it at home. I am not sure how to do that after several times of contacting thrifty pig i also contacted ipsos there partner that sends the product and they have yet to tell me anything or give me a credit. last month i was told i would receive a reward link in couple days never seen that either. i also have that email as well. i have everything.

I just tried redeeming my points for cash on the thriftypig.com survey site. They sent me a code to verify my identity but then said they couldn't verify my identity online and that I needed to wait for them to give me a call. So I did what they asked and gave them my name and phone number by clicking on the box that is supposed to put my phone number in their call back que. Ive done about 9 times and still nobody has called me from thrftypig I'm really hoping to get to redeem my points that I've earned.

I reached out to ****** prior to receiving this complaint, and so I have emailed him again to confirm that he received my message. He made a typo when registering that caused his account to get flagged for review. We have resolved it, and he is all set to get cashed out. My apologies again for the delay getting back to him. We are a small company and didn't get a chance to touch base with him yesterday. Definitely let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

      Thanks,

Thrifty Pig is a rip off! They wasted about 20 minutes of my time only to tell me I don't 'qualify' for a survey.

Thrifty pig promises that once I earn enough points they will redeem them for cash. They have failed to do so. Most of the time the redeem tab doesn't work. When it does they require a verification code. When I enter the code that they sent me, they don't accept it. Instead, they say they will call me. Then they don't call. I just want them to redeem my points and send me the money they owe me.

I have been filling out surveys for a couple of weeks with Thrifty Pig. They are supposed to compensate me for my time and opinions. I have filled out numerous surveys with them already, only to reach the end of the survey, after they've collected alot of information from me, only to be told I did not qualify for the survey. They are taking my answers, and my time, and are not compensating me for it half of the time. I have made about 39 dollars supposedly with them, but will have to contact them to withdraw my earnings. When I tried to withdraw them, it did not work, and I was unable to collect the pay I have earned. It is wrong for them to take ***** minutes of my time, and collect a great deal of info from me, only to be told I don't qualify, so then they have received my info for free, and they don't have to pay. I would not recommend Thrifty Pig at all. They steal time and do not pay for most of the info they collect from you. It remains to be seen whether or not I will be able to collect the money I did earn. They make it very difficult to do so!

I am a member of Thrifty Pig Surveys. Lately the surveys have been malfunctioning and when one attempts to redeem points there are constant glitches. The matter has been reported to the management but they only apply a temporary fix and it is right back to the frustrating experience of non-redemption. Their customer service takes hours to respond therefore issues are not easily resolved in a timely manner. The company needs to be more diligent about their quality of services.

      Dear BBB Team,

I would be more than happy to discuss this member’s complaint over the phone if you have any questions. You can reach me at ###-###-####. I have attached some documents to our response, so please let me know if you have any trouble viewing them. I had to send four documents separately and you should have eight total.

As background, Thrifty Pig is an online survey site where our members earn money for participating in market research. This member joined our site on 7/13/21. I personally spoke with him on the phone 7/22 to help him cash out his first $5 payment and then he also received another $5 from our company on 7/31 (see attached document ‘Payment History’).

I have also been in contact with this member about the issues he is having on the site and have attached four email exchanges since 7/23 (including two from yesterday).

In the first email exchange on 7/23, he submitted a support ticket about an error he received at the end of a survey. He didn’t provide any details about the error, but we did compensate him the full amount for the negative experience (see “Survey Bonus” in attached document ‘Project History 2/3’).

In the second email exchange on 7/31, he submitted a support ticket about some kind of ‘closed’ message at the end of a survey. I responded and asked him to specify whether he received a message that said “closed” or “closed modal”, but I never received a response. There is an important difference between “closed” and “closed modal”. A “closed modal” disqualification is because some of our third party survey partners have LOI (length of interview) programmed into their surveys for quality assurance. It automatically disqualifies a respondent if the respondent finishes the survey significantly faster or slower than is possible or reasonable. I didn’t want to assume his DQ was due to poor quality, but if it was, I would want to address it with the member.

In the third email exchange yesterday morning, he expressed that he was having still issues with surveys not crediting. I asked him to stop taking surveys until we could troubleshoot the issue with his account by phone, but I did not receive a response about setting up a time that was convenient for him (he works full time).

In the fourth email exchange from late yesterday evening, he wrote “another survey - another "closed modal survey" error. if i dont get the pts im owed - im going to the bbb. this is ridic.” I responded and reiterated that he shouldn’t take surveys until we could troubleshoot the issue by phone. I also explained why he was receiving the “closed modal” disqualification. I asked when he could chat the following day, but I did not receive a response until I got the BBB complaint this morning.

I was hoping to have a friendly chat with this member over the phone to resolve his crediting issue and emphasize the importance of response quality. I also wanted to go over his account to make sure that all of his information was accurate. If I remember our phone call from 7/22 correctly, I believe he had an issue cashing out because he had made a small mistake on his birthdate when registering. I explained that any mismatched responses could lead to more disqualifications and also encouraged him to complete the rest of his paid Profile Questionnaires to help with overall qualification rates on the site. He did complete the Profiles the next day, but I’m wondering if he moved after we spoke because we have him listed as living in Florida but the address associated with his complaint is in Georgia. In market research, zip code is one of the most important data points and mismatched zip codes would be a significant discrepancy causing more disqualifications. Our third party survey partners take quality very seriously, and repeated quality issues, like speeding or mismatched responses, can lead to them blocking accounts from their surveys in a way that is out of our control. This is what we are trying to avoid.

We are very sorry that he has had such a negative experience on the site and wish he would have given us the opportunity to resolve the complaint with him directly. Even though Thrifty Pig doesn’t get paid when survey completes are rejected, we are willing to simply resolve this complaint by giving the member an additional bonus of $2.85. At that point, he can cash out $5 before he closes his account. Please let me know if that works for the member.

      Thank you,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I will cash out when the amount is in my account. The emails I sent were through the help button on the website itself. I never got any responses from them. I'm not sure if they are emailing the right person or not? I did move so maybe that is one of the issues... but I rather not deal with this survey site. I never zipped through any surveys - I took my time and filled out all questions and answered truthfully. I would just like to cash out and be on my way...

      Sincerely,
