I told Classic Investments that I wanted a quote to rebuild the engine and transmission on my **** Ford.I also told them I could buy a crate engine for $8200.They had the car and came back with a price of $11,010 for the engine and transmission.Talking to other rebuilders, they said this price was in line.It was to take between 4 and 6 weeks. As they had the car I told them to go with it.They took about 18 months with the rebuild.During this time, my son was in a hospital in ***** with nobody with him. So I went down to be there for him for 4 to 5 months.In looking over what they were billing me for, it appeared that everything they did wrong, they were charging me to redo. An example of this is for 5 rear main seals. the car only needs one.While I was gone, my wife talked to the owner, *********************, who also said the bill seemed high. ****** said he would look into it and call her back. Did not happen.After I got back from *****, he was almost impossible to get hold of but had the office helper, ****, call and tell ** we had to pay an additional $4400 to get the car back.This brought the final price for the quoted $11,010 figure to almost $45,000.I have all bills with outrageous charges that I will share with anyone interested.
