Midgard storage took over from Cubic Storage on ************ in ****** ** without providing mailed notice to Cubic customers. As a result, autopay for the storage unit was discontinued without my knowledge. Two months after taking over, Midgard has threatened to impound items in storage due to late payment, and is charging exorbitant late fees. My personal property is being held hostage unless I agree to pay a penalty fee despite that there was insufficient notice of the change in control and the fact that autopay had been discontinued.Business response

On 5/4/22 I contacted the business to give my 30 day notice to vacate my storage. I was told that because its the 4th I had to pay all of Junes payment as well. Even though 30 days puts me into 6/3/22. I feel its very unfair to pay for 27 days of a unit I am not using. I have been moving and understand I forgot to do so on the 1st. I have a traumatic brain injury among other documented and verifiable disabilities. We have had pipes burst at our previous residence I have been dealing with and several other things. Why by no means is the business fault. But its still very unfair to charge me a whole extra month of storage.Also when I notified today of my intent to vacate in 30 days my notice I received says I said I would vacate as of 6/30/22 which is not correct and not what I said. I was told by the employee I would need to take this up with his boss as this was what he was told to do. I never signed the document or electronically signed it was signed on my behalf without my knowledge.I told him I would pay my May storage over the weekend and I will have the unit emptied by 5/31/22.
