Up on the mountain on Estes Park Colorado, in the middle March, 11 degrees, the room did not have a heater. I did not know this because when I checked in I dropped my things off and left for a few hours. When I returned to the room around 8pm, it was freezing. I called front desk and no one was answering. Turns out the closed reception at 530. They had a tiny space heater in the room but at 11 degrees, it was only enough to warm my hands, not the whole room. Because no one was answering and I didn't want to freeze, I checked in at a different hotel back in town an hour and a half from Coyote Lodge. The following morning I called The Lodge to let them know that there was a problem the night before and that I would like to be checked out of the room and that the key was in the room and that I'd like to get my money back. They refused to do so. According to them I should have called the maintenance line that was written on the piece of paper they gave me upon check-in. First of all to me the maintenance phone number meant that I must call them if something was broken or not working right. Second of all, there was no heater! But they are insisting that because they gave me a maintenance phone number and I did not call it that night and that the issue could have been fixed had I called, they will not give me my money back. This is unbelievably wrong. I tried to speak to the manager a couple of times but they wouldn't give the phone to the manager. I was very polite too even though I was frustrated and they still wouldn't do the right thing. I will never recommend this place to anyone. And I will make sure I do everything that I can to make travelers aware of this poor business practice.Business response

This is in reference to complaint #********….I have read the complaint and apologize to the guest….this issue was not handled to our standards…….I would be happy to reimburse the guest and would hope that they would return to our property in the future ……..please contact me directly to make a future reservation…….thank you…….Peter…. *** *** ****
