After two service calls, I was given information that the temperature setting on the geothermal compressor was too high. I sent a request several times asking for a clarification which has been ignored. The request is copied below. Blue Valley installed this unit 5 years ago and has made several service calls but was never informed about the temperature until the last two calls. This refers to invoices #******** & ********."**** did his service call and told me that we are running the compressor too hot. The temperature has been set at 115 +/- 5 F. He says that this is too hot and should be 100 F (error should have been 110), and agrees with the compressor manual. My question about this is that Blue Valley has been here several times to service the unit and never pointed this out to us. The temperature was originally set by the installer/contrator 14 years ago for the orgininal unit. While I reset the unit to 110 +/- 5, I am disturbed that none of the techs and others that installed this unit 5 years ago caught this error and may have shortened the lifespan of the compressor. Please note that according to figure on page 7 of the installation and operations manual, for the loop water at *****, which is what we have here according to our gauges connected to the loop, the figure indicates at about 122. Which is correct?"

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  One correction--I did not dispute the $99 charge from the company.

Eleven years ago Blue Valley Heating/Air Conditioning installed a new air conditioner and furnace in my vacation home in *******, Co. Last year, during my annual servicing of my air conditioner they told my daughter (my house manager) that my air conditoner had a leaky coil and charged me a total of $1833.77 to determine this! After I paid this amount the technican said I needed a new air conditioner and I was sent an estimate of over $10,000 to replace it. My daughter suggested i contact her HVAC man, who determined that upon installation of the unit, Blue Valley never replaced the line set and the line set was inadequate for the unit they installed. Because it was inadequate it caused the motor to overwork and burn out!!! I contacted the owner via email for a monetary adjustment, but never had any response. To add more insult, my daughter's technican found my air conditioner to be extremely dirty. I had been paying for a yearly cleaning!!!

I would like to resolve this in the best way possible and will definitely issue a refund if warranted. I'd like to defend my technician's findings and process first however.

It takes multiple trips, extra time and specialized dyes and UV equipment to locate refrigerant leaks, especially when leaks are in the indoor coil. This process was followed as prescribed.

Blue Valley's technician provided an estimate for just the indoor coil replacement but also provided estimates for system replacement options since manufacturer warranties expired. I've attached the invoice on 9/15/2023 where he explains the following-
"The coil can not be repaired, the coil will need to be replaced to stop the leak. I will provide you with a quote to replace the coil. As the ac system is 10 years old and nearing the end of its recommended life span and considering the cost of repair I will provide you with a quote for replacement of the entire ac system as well."

Debris can enter the inside of an outdoor condenser at any time and is harmless to the operation of the system. The most important aspect is to keep the outdoor coil free of debris. They are instructed to hose the coil down with a water hose during maintenance calls. This is typically all that is required. On rare occasions in a dusty atmosphere, chemical cleaning may be required. That's usually not the case in ********

The only reason the refrigerant lines weren't replaced is because they travel over a finished ceiling. It is common practice to flush refrigerant lines with a specialized solvent as was done at time of installation when the alternative is demolition. Asbestos testing and possible abatement typically come into play in the demo situation as well.

It's very easy for one team to come in and trash talk another team. Your technician from Blue Valley is a man of great integrity and I promise he was only trying to do the right thing for you as he does for all of our clients. I would love a chance to pay your home a visit to inspect the system with my technician at no cost to you. If this is too far gone, I understand and will definitely provide you with a refund. I would hope to earn your business back in the future.

      Sincerely,

Purchased a new heating and cooling system in November of 2022. The system does not work. They have been out many times - still does not work correctly today. It is 63 degrees in my house, the system is set at 69 degrees.

There is no doubt that there were many issues with the furnace we installed for ******************. Our installation was impeccable but our manufacturer and distributor did ** a disservice. The furnace was originally provided without the correct gas orifices and I finally caught this after we sold and installed 12 of these furnaces. We had many call backs on these furnaces and once we finally received the correct orifices from the manufacturer (Bosch), the call backs subsided. Unfortunately, this is one that remained a problem.

After many attempts at repair with the remote assistance of Bosch tech support and Comfort Air Distributing tech support, I offered to replace the furnace at no cost under warranty. We replaced the furnace and installed new ducting at no extra cost with no financial help from Bosch or CAD.

The problem remained and I had a tech rep from Bosch come to the project. We discovered a discrepancy between the installation manual and actual real world installation practice in the drain system. Once we figured this out, to my knowledge, this furnace has been working flawlessly.

I don't blame ****************** one bit for this complaint. I didn't give up until there was a solution. Blue Valley exhausted all resources to make this right and as usual, there is no culpability for the giant manufacturer and distributor.

      Sincerely,

Have had massive leaks in ceiling due to swamp cooler and roof. Had swamp cooler serviced by Isaac on 6/10, said float valve cracked, overflow drain and pads needed replacing. Paid $290 to company and bought replacement parts. Isaac returned 7/19 and 7/20 to replace parts and ensure swamp cooler working correctly, paid $160. Had Isaac come out 8/6 because swamp cooler blowing hot. He said pump needed replacing, paid $89. Isaac returned 8/11, replaced pump, said roofing co must have pushed swamp cooler off pads causing leaking inside, said flashing on roof needs replacing. He readjusted to ensure no leaking, was charged $89 (which I am disputing this fee.) Had manager come out 8/20 with roofing co to resolve leaking issue. Blue Valley said swamp cooler not level from roofers. Both roofing co and Blue Valley have blamed each other for leaking, but neither co will fix anything. Leaking is still occurring, causing structural damage to ceiling and beam.

All invoices and pictures are attached.

It is my understanding that the roof was recently replaced. Blue Valley performed many needed repairs to the evaporative cooler and ultimately, the roof leaked around the penetration where the duct enters. Blue Valley did not install this cooler, nor were we consulted when the roof was replaced. The roofing contractor installed a temporary tarp between the cooler and the roof (seen in pictures attached). This would indicate that there was a roof leak and it's hard to imagine why Blue Valley would be held accountable for a roof leak after a roofing contractor had just replaced the roof. We are willing to refund the total amount of invoices ($529).

Because of the inherent risk of errors made by others beyond our control, Blue Valley will no longer service, install or consult on evaporative coolers.
