My clutch pedal in my car started to act weird and within a few days it went to the ground completely. I saw Houska online and they had some decent reviews. I am brand new to the area and decided to give them a shot, so I had *** tow it to them. Instead of the 1 hour of diagnostic, the mechanic found a leak in the slave cylinder in 30 minutes which I appreciated. I was quoted $1000 total with tax for the job. I called the ****** dealer for a comparison and got $500-$750. I called another automotive shop and got $550-$700. The ****** Dealer made it a point to tell me that it is recommended to do the whole clutch because it is very common the clutch goes when the cylinder starts to leak. I talked to James at Houska on Wednesday and he said he didn't think that was the case but he wouldn't know 100% and he told me that up front. So I decided to let them do the job since my car was there and he told me he could have it done on Thursday, Friday the latest. On Friday, I got the call that the job was done and my clutch still bad and his replacement recommendation was $3000 on top of the $1000. I called ****** and they said for a clutch entirely it would be around $2000 total with tax. I called James and told him I was gunna do that instead. He then said they would do it for $2300. After I still said no, he said that he admitted he didn't know the clutches typically go when the cylinder leaks and the guy at ****** I talked to actually told him that when he went to go get my parts to my slave cylinder but decided to still not call me and tell me. He also admitted I would have saved $250 in labor alone if I went to ****** initially. He left me a voicemail Friday and at the end told me that they actually damaged a coolant line and they would pay ****** to fix it instead. They never noted the damage on my bill. Before I left, the guy gave me a quote of $1893 to fix the clutch by rolling the first job labor into the second job. ****** is currently fixing it for $1840.Business response

Mr. ******* I'm sorry that your experience at Houska Automotive was less than desirable. ******* are one of the most popular car lines we work on and it was a surprise to me to receive your complaint from the BBB. After reviewing your invoice and estimates with James and listening to record phone calls I do want to help you out with a refund. I know the coolant hose replacement which we damaged by extracting a broken bolt is already being covered by us through ******. So, if you had replaced both the slave cylinder, slave cylinder hydraulic line and the clutch assembly at the same time you would have saved $309.46 in labor. Please let me know how you would like the refund sent to you.
