BEWARE BEWARE: this training facility does not have the well being of dogs in mind, and is just wanting to take your money. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau as I asked for a service and never received it. I took my aggressive dog to this training program for a board and train and I explained that my dog has reactivity issues and had recently bit someone. Sarah ensured me that they had work with these types of dogs before and that this program would help us to walk him on a leash. The program mentality is that the e-collar was a tap on the shoulder and that the dog had to make the decision to do the command. After talking with several dog behavioral experts, with a working dog with aggressive tendencies, they need to be trained with the mentality that the owner is in charge and making the decisions, for the dog to follow lead. Additionally, when I started taking him to group classes, Canyon would lunge at all the participants. I asked Sarah multiple times to have 1:1 sessions and she continued to make me go to highly stressful group sessions. For the amount of money I paid, that shouldn't have been the response. I have since realized that they no longer do group trainings as they found them ineffective. As such the training program did not work for Canyon, and I am extremely disappointed because I invested a lot of money. I am going to have to pay for new training, and have asked for a refund to help pay for the training to get my dog the help he deserves, otherwise he would need to be put down. The owner refused my request, even though the program didn't work. Which goes to show you that they are driven by money and not the well being of the dog.Business response

Hannah, we are sorry that you feel we don’t have the well-being of dogs in mind, as our litany of clients would beg to differ. We truly do care about all of the dogs in our care. As per your situation, you had actually completed a Day Training course, not the Board and Train that you claimed. During your time with us, you completed the full training, which gives you an array of tools and techniques to ensure that training is successful, if you keep up with it. To go further- this training occurred nearly 2 years ago (July 2022), and the last time we had seen you was only 1 month after training ended. And it is true that we shifted from the Group Class model, however we would have been happy to extend our monthly refresher course to you, had we heard from you in the past year. When it was all said and done, you completed 3 of the 52 weeks of additional courses we provided, and you did do a 1 on 1 session of a Board and Refresher (but only 1). We are disappointed that Canyon has not received the supplemental training he has needed, but in terms of the refund- you agreed to & signed our contract that it was non-refundable after completing just 1 training lesson, as we give a transfer of knowledge which is not able to be taken back. We wish Canyon the best and hope he gets the improvement that is needed.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: NEGLIGENCE on the part of the business. This business should not be handling or training aggressive or working dogs. After talking with several dog behavioral specialists, this business needs to be held negligent for the training and thousands of dollars they charged me for incorrect and ineffective services. No other dog owner that has an aggressive dog should ever go to this business for help. I feel that is my duty to warn other potential customers with aggressive dogs, that this type of training is negligence for the community and the dog and Sit Means Sit should never train an aggressive dog in the future.
Regards,
Hannah Evans
