There’s a hotel in Fort Collins called: the Budget Inn. This hotel portrays that it caters and assists those whom are homeless in the community; however, it’s a scam. My name is Dr. Omar Gafford, an Army Veteran, former college professor, diagnosed with a several terminal diseases, and currently homeless. I attempted to stay at the Budget Host Inn hotel in Fort Collins, off of North College Ave for an entire month. I actually spending $1440 of my veterans’ disability payment. I only stayed there for almost 2 weeks, I was yesterday surprisingly asked to vacate the premises when I questioned the additional bill they left overnight on my door. I was told by one of the employees that I didn’t have to worry about being charged for dirty towels ($45 — I have the funds to pay them) after the front-desk had the audacity to actually charge me for using the towels I was given to clean the room. To add to my dismay/frustration, I had 3 of the 4 employees who worked for the Buget Host Inn staying in my room. Two hours after I questioned the manager on duty I was asked to vacate the premises, they stated I was using drugs within my room. This is the furthest thing from the truth. I know that I’m not the only homeless person/ veteran who’s been victimized, had their entire paycheck stolen by these criminals but I just want to be the last.Business response

The guest checked in to stay with us for 4 weeks. Our normal rate is $1375 and he was given a 10% military discount off that price. The owners, who are both disabled combat veterans are happy to offer that discount to our service members. What the owners are not willing to do, is tolerate illegal and unsafe behavior that puts employees and other guests at risk. This individual repeatedly engaged in excessive drug use. It was so bad that employees that had to enter his room and other guests (some of them children) near his room were getting sick. It is suspected that this individual was smoking fentanyl on our property. In addition to the drug use, he had other non guests frequently trafficking through his room at all hours of the day. This person is no longer welcome on our property. Any one engaging in this type of behavior, will have their stay terminated and there will be no refunds and they will be trespassed. We are working closely with local law enforcement to crack down on this type of behavior on North College Ave. Additionally this behavior is reported to the other establishments in the area so they can avoid the same hardships that we have experienced.
