1/09/23 - Initial date complaint was made with the business Owner ***** ****** Amount Paid on 7/10/21 $8,958.00 Metal Roof, AC unit & dryer vent (zero J channels, facia replacement, and flashing were not even considered). City of Grand Junction Contractor License # ******** I purchased our home back on May 3, 2022. A few moths after moving in, I noticed excessive condensation occurring in our master bathroom on the ceiling (pictures have been taken both inside the home as well as the attic space and on top of the roof). I myself went up on the actual roof and notice terrible caulking was done and the caulking was already cracking and did not even match the roof color. I then proceeded to have two separate roofing companies come out to review the roof and attic. Upon both companies professional analysis was the roof wasn't properly installed for it is missing J channels and a long piece of wooden facia that was already rotted was left on, which should have been replaced. I contacted the owner ***** ****** same day and advised him if he did not resolve these issues I would proceed with litigation. ***** came out, looked at what my concerns were and what the prior roofing companies stated. It literally took 2+ weeks for ***** to return to fix the caulking which was still poor workmanship. ***** had promised that he would install the J channels and trim off the excess caulking once he received the materials. My husband left text messages and voice mails since 2/26/23, to get this matter resolved. ***** is ghosting our calls and texts. I am filing this complaint to ensure that no other customer gets mislead and left with a faulty roof which clearly this business should not be conducting themselves in whatsoever or any business for that matter.

      ***** ******
      B and C Roofing LLC,
      ***** ********
      3/3/2023

From first contact from new home owners, to today, it has been approximately 53 days. I have spoken with and addressed the clients concerns, twice in person and a minimum of six times over the phone. Tax money is starting to come in for people, and we are receiving a high volume of calls. We were not ignoring the customer. The FIRST time they contacted a secondary number that was on the business card, we were able to respond to them within minutes.
B and C roofing is willing to hire an independant 3rd party roofing company to inspect the area of concern, and evaluate if the roof is faulty and causing a leak, or if it is a separate problem. Any repairs that they think may be needed to address a potential leak regarding the master bathroom, B and C roofing will stand by our 5 year warranty on all new roofs, and perform those repairs. If it is shown that the roof is faulty and caused damage to the drywall, B and C roofing would incur the costs of repairing the inside damage, as well as repairing the leak in the roof.
When completing this roof for the original home owner, some optional cosmetic options were offered. We had discussed repairing the fascia, which would have required an additional contractor licensed to repair siding. the customer declined this extra cost.
When completing this roof for the original home owner, the optional cosmetic option of “J channel” was offered, this is a premium upgrade to the roof. ***** metals installation requirements do not list J channel as a requirement, it is optional and not listed in their installation instruction manual. The homeowner whom we had a contract with declined any extra costs.
After completing the roof, I was called back to address some complaints. They did not like the caulking around the ridge. I applied more sealant to address this, without charge. the damages to the caulking was post installation after the final inspection and our work was completed. The ridge cap was damaged as well near the caulking concerns. This is now a cosmetic issue, but I do my best to ensure every customer is happy.
B and C roofing had offered to install an optional metal trim that the customer wanted. We were offering this because we try our best to ensure every customer is 100% satisfied. Word of mouth is the best advertising you can get in this small town, and we have never advertised elsewhere. However, due to the physical and verbal threats received from this customer, we are going to ensure our roof is not at fault for any leaks, and we are no longer offering to install this optional trim package for free, costing our company hundreds of dollars.
It is our desire to end this amicably. We cannot tolerate threats from customers, or verbal harassment. We have remained professional through the entire process, and regardless of the heinous insults the homeowner chose to use towards us, regardless of the threats the homeowner chose to use against us, we would still like to ensure we are doing the right thing, and providing the quality roof that the previous owner had paid for.

      Thank you,
      B and C roofing

      Better Business Bureau®:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, for we do not want Mr. ****** or anyone affiliated with B & C Roofing to be on our property EVER. We will proceed using a roofer that's licensed and qualified to perform ALL roofing needs and responsibilities that pertain to our concerns. In addition, Mr. ****** did indeed record our last phone conversation illegally, by mentioning he did so at the end of the call and hung up on my husband. Recording is illegal in Colorado if NO party to the conversation knows that the conversation is being recorded and consent is provided. Mr. ****** has not conducted himself in the most professional light that he's portraying to be, do not be fooled.
No matter who the business is, it is the business's due diligence to follow-up with the customer, not the customer having to follow-up, play phone tag, then get ghosted by the business owner; this alone can potentially escalate the matter further which it did. Nonetheless, we are choosing to handle this matter with a company that truly is professional, fully licensed in all roofing needs and repairs, and most of all can take care of business without the customer doing it for them.

I appreciate your valued time and support regarding this matter. Thank you.

      Regards,

      ***** ******
      B and C Roofing llc,
      ***** ******** ********* * ********

      Good afternoon,
Please add this to the complaint
      1. I am requesting the previous professional business names, inspections reports, and method of inspections. I need to know how invasive their inspection was.

      2. I am only going to pay for a neutral licensed and insured professional roofer or inspector of my choosing.

We can use the mesa county permits office to send out a government inspector

Or, i asked ***** ****** *the metal manufacturers) and ****** (my distributors) whom they believe is a professional metal installer. They recommended 5 roofers. both of them recommended. ***** ******** *** ****** ** ***** ********. I have never met this gentleman. If I am unable to be there during the inspection, I am requesting the customers have no contact or documented (recorded) contact. This is to guarantee a truly neutral inspection with no manipulation or leading from either parties. When or if I am able to contact this gentleman I will also record our conversation. If I am unable to hear from him by tomorrow morning I will choose a different neutral profesional.

      thank you for your time
if you have any questions please let me know
      sincerely,

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

      1) We are done dealing with B & C Roofing all together.

      2) By sending my last reply, I considered this matter resolved. B & C Roofing, their affiliates and/or recommendations of preferred contractors  are not up for negotiation for their recommendations surely hold zero validity based on our relations with him and his company. We hold the right to who is allowed on our property and we have barred B & C Roofing and their affiliates to NOT step a toe on our property. B & C Roofing can keep the J channel from ***** ****** for we will obtain our own materials for the roofing repairs.

      3) I will not disclose who the two prior roofing companies were; for they're innocent companies that do not need to be subjected to this matter. Mr. ****** chose to illegally record our final phone conversation and now, this matter needs to be laid to rest for Mr. ****** is now instigating the situation and has already been a thorn in one's side from day one. I advise Mr. ****** and B & C Roofing to end all further communication with us for we are finished with this matter.

Pleased be advised I will no longer entertain further conversations via email and definitely not by phone with either Mr. ****** and B & C Roofing going forward.

      Regards,

      ******* *****
