Nov. 28, 2021 Re: Mr. Brad K******, website ******************. I contracted with Brad K****** to restring a large window blind. My blind worked fine except one of the five strings had broken. Brad came, pulled straight down on the cord to open it, and I corrected him. (The string should always be pulled away from the lock and moved to straight up and down to lock it.) He took the blind down and left with it. Brad estimated the time it would be ready. A few days after the estimated return time, I called to ask about the progress. He said the lock broke; it is an old blind; he had tried very hard to find a replacement part, but they aren’t being made any more. He asked if I wanted the old strings, and I said, “Yes.” He restrung the blind. When he brought it back and installed it, I couldn’t reach the strings. They were about 3 ½ feet shorter than the original. He pulled them and it opened and closed. It stayed closed because the lock was broken. I suggested he add an extension. Brad said would order an extension and install it. He said it would also need a cleat to be installed on the wall or window frame to wind the extension cord around, and I should buy one. I bought a cleat from the hardware store. Brad’s estimate was $125 for the job. He charged $100, maybe because the lock had broken while the blind was under his care. I don’t know. Over weeks, I phoned Brad three times to ask about the extension, and to tell him that I had climbed on a step stool to reach the strings and was unable to open the blind. I noticed the strings are hard-looking. Maybe that’s why it’s so hard to pull, but I don’t know. I can’t open the blind, it remains closed, and the room is, therefore, quite dark. I e-mailed Brad’s website with my above concerns. To date, I have not received a response either by phone or e-mail
