SunKey Energy installed my solar system in 2018. I have a warranty for at least 10 years. My ** combiner box is not working properly so I called them to have it repaired. They subcontracted another company to fix it. I was supposed to have an appointment today June 1, 2023 and I took the day off work to be here for it. I found out from the company that SunKey Energy canceled that appointment without my knowledge because they dont want to pay for the service. I have to pay for it even though the ** Combiner box is under warranty. This is not the first issue. Ive had with SunKey Energy and I would warn anyone attempting to use their service to look elsewhere.Business response

Hello,
I am the Executive Assistant to the owner. During pandemic, this owner lost his employees and had to close his entire office and move it to storage and his residence. The stress has been tremendous, especially in the hiring arena. The labor force and specialty contractors in the solar industry, who are reliable, are not easy to find these days.
We will do our best to facilitate the request. Please contact the owner with the method you have on file and title it, "BBB Complaint Response, your name."
Thank you for your time and understanding.

I am rejecting this response because:The companies issues with the pandemic and loss of employees are not my problem. My problem is that they used my money and didnt pay *********************. I had to retain an attorney and pay out of my pocket to get that issue resolved. My second issue is they refuse to honor the warranty that they gave me for 25 years on parts and labor for my solar system. I have to pay another company at least $850 to install my ikioo combiner box because SunKey Energy will not honor their warranty, this has nothing to do with Covid because it is happening in the present time. Ive attached all of my documentation showing what I had to do and what my attorney did for your consideration.
Sincerely,

Unfortunately, the customer does not understand that our warrantee only covers our workmanship and not the equipments. While the equipments such as IQ box, inverters or modules are covered by the manufacturers, and would be replaced at no cost but the labor for the replacement has to be covered by the customer. ****************** was aware of that and agreed to it but after talking to our subcontractor has a wrong impression that she shouldn't be paying for our time and the labor required to replace the equipment.
Please remove her unfounded complaints.
Thank you!

I am rejecting this response because my contract clearly states that work is covered and I will attach a copy for your perusal

Failure of a piece of equipment in the customers system (which by the way were all approved by the customer prior to installation) is not covered under the workmanship warranty in our contract with her. And, that is the case for all ******************** in the country. She is not stating the truth that our contract says we are responsible for fixing what is wrong with her system. Please see below the portion of the contract that discusses that:
Section 6. Warranty Contractor warrants the installation of the system against defects in workmanship for a period of 25 years following the completion of the Project.
In late May, I spoke to her on the phone and explained to her very clearly that our workmanship warranty only covers what is related to our installation and not the equipment failure. While the equipment such as ** box, inverters or modules are covered by the manufacturers warranty, and would be replaced at no cost but the labor for the replacement has to be covered by the customer. ****************** stated that she understands that and agreed to pay for the labor for the replacement of ** Box. However, now that her issue is resolved and the ** box is replaced she is pretending that she doesnt know what a workmanship warranty covers and trying to not to pay for the services or recover some money. You can confirm this by reviewing our contract that she has actually attached. It is unfortunate that some customers use this great service provided by filing frivolous complaints. She needs to publicly apologize to SunKey Energy for tarnishing our company and withdraw her baseless complaints.
Please remove her unfounded complaints.

I am rejecting this response because: I have had several solar companies look at this contract, and they have all told me the same thing. There is nothing in there that states they will not cover the workmanship on this defective part I mean what is the point of having a warranty if the only thing it covers is the manufacturer replacing the part, whats the point of it if it doesnt cover the workmanship as well. I honestly dont expect ************** to own up to his mistakes, and to take care of his responsibilities.
************** is known for leaving his customers hanging and not taking care of his responsibilities when it comes to system maintenance. I am not the only one hes done this to. He can call me all the names he wants and he can say anything he wants about me and my lack of knowledge. The fact is hes a bad businessman and the only reason he isnt out of business is because he threatens to go bankrupt every time somebody presses him on these issues. Im waiting for him to use that tactic next.
Sincerely,
***************************
