Pattern of Complaint:

BBB files indicate a pattern of consumer complaints filed against this business. Consumers primarily report concerns around advertising, service, refund, billing and customer service issues. Regarding advertising issues, consumers allege that after purchasing an unlimited call plan, they do not receive unlimited minutes and are informed that they will need to use a separate service to obtain minutes, and ultimately, pay more than the advertised price. Consumers also allege that phone lines provided by the business are either disconnected or work for a limited amount of time/calls.  Additionally, consumers allege that they are informed by customer service representatives that refunds cannot be issued and allege that when they are offered partial refunds, refunds are never received. Further, consumers allege that the 7-day refund and partial refund policies are not listed in the business’ terms and conditions. Similarly, consumers allege that they are continuously charged unauthorized payments, even after confirmed cancellation. Finally, consumers allege that the business is unresponsive to phone calls and emails. 

 

On May 28, 2019, BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. As of June 24,2020, BBB has had no response.

    My son moved to lower security. I didn't know anything regarding to phone company but secure something so I googled and the came up as inmate calling. I'm on fixed income and had already paid for everything this month and now had to pay again to talk etc. I put $45 on the phones ( I thought). When he called it still said 0 balance so I was paying for individual calls at $6.25 each on my credit card wondering when it would show up to use. This money adds up. Someone that is new has no idea how things work. I finally paid a large amount instead of each time and knew I'd put it in wrong company because I kept asking if it showed up each day. I finally found them again. I tried finding their phone number it seems they don't spend their profits on a phone. It wouldn't let me log in so I pushed live chat so I pressed guest chat. They ended up saying refunds are done on our website. I tried to go to site to download some form but it kept switching back to our chat. I tried 4 times but I'm so upset by this time and racked up so much on card etc. I am going to have to wait until tomorrow. If you see a lady on the news yelling or crazy saying something about inmate companies robbing families money it will be me. I hope someone does something to hold these people accountable. No matter what it is it will not compare to the way this system makes it hard on the families who have a loved one who's being held accountable for their decisions and how hard it is to encourage and support them. We all need to hear a kind voice of someone that cares. They are at the bottom of the barrel.

    Accidentally created an account with them because i thought it was a different website, upon creating an account they charged my bank for *****. I have tried to close the account and remove my card but it will not allow me. I called to get a refund they told me they would not after trying to convince me to leave me account open. When i told them i would file a dispute with my bank they hung up on me. THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM !

    It states it will allow you to be contacted at a cheaper rate and they guarantee money back both are lies! I purchased and the calls were not cheaper and they ignore any emails sent and wont answer phone calls!

    I am being charged $44.99 with inmate talk services. I did not purchase this phone service nor have i talked to anybody over the phone who is in prison. When i went on the website to see how much the service would be i created an account and it automaticly charged me without confirming my purchase. I did not want to purchase anything . It just charged me. I have not used the service nor will i. I would like my money back

    I bought a unlimited plan and I am unable to receive calls o have recieve calls although I've done everything I was supposed to do.

    I purchased twice from this company, inmatecalling.com. I bought unlimited minutes on May 31st for $29.98. They tried charging my card again because they said I have to pay every month and I didnt pay so they closed my account and didnt refund my money back. Also they service did not work when my loved one tried calling the special number they give you and the service was not used. So I tried with them again instead this time on July 7th I bought a 500 minute plan for $24.98 and the service still does not work and minutes and when I log into my account I see minutes have been used and I havent answered or accepted a call and Im also not getting every call from my loved one in prison when they call. They said they called for time and only got one missed call from them. And of course they wouldnt provide me with a refund. Buying minutes and still have to put money on my phone on GTL defeats the whole purpose of the service it doesnt make sense and the information they provide is very misleading and confusing. And I emailed them and they are rude I feel as though this is a scam and they are getting off on people!

    On 6/20/2022 at approximately 4pm I was trying to get a refund of $44.99. Instead of giving me a refund they tried to take $200 from my account. I'm glad that *********** rejected the $200. Then they wanted to use my bank account I said no I want it back on the card that I paid. The guy said in order to get your money back you have to use another card with I refused.

    I have been trying to contact customer service to dispute charges I have had reoccurring since Dec 2021. No matter what time I call Im unable to get through to anyone. I never signed up for this and cannot get it canceled.

    I thought that this service would help me,but it was the wrong one. I have sent emails to cancel this and to stop it from coming out of my bank account. Even tried to stop it with the cash app account and was told by them to contact inmatesCall which I have left them server email wasnt able to reach anyone at the phone number that is listed with their business name. Have asked that they stop taking funds out of my account,and who are they using it for.

    This company does not make it clear how the program works or that most likely it wont. You are actually paying them to trick the *** phone system out of money by making you jump through hoops to save a ton of money in the long run. But when it does not work they do not give you your money back or an solution other then having inmate call a false number to call you and setting it up did not work. I am sure they know all of this there is no way they could not. They get $25 from people time and again making a ton of money in long run and you get nothing in return no refund, customer service, nor the services they sold you.
