RTC put a roof on for us following a hail storm in 2019. The roof and other work that was contracted took a VERY long time to get completed and we hit a number of hiccups with RTC along the way. Since the "repair" in 2019 we had a number of shingles blow off the roof. They refused to come check their workmanship and honor their 5 year work warranty. We had 2 separate companies come out and tell us our roof was trash and would need to be fully replaced. We had the IKO shingle rep come out and report the same thing. All of the companies stated that it was because of workmanship not weather or default in product. Upon further looking we went to the town the check the permit on the project to find out it was never closed....therefore our roof was not permitted. RTC finally sent someone out after excessive amounts of attempts to reach them and after contacting a lawyer. RTC replaced the roof in full on May 12th & 13th of 2022. Since then we have not received our new 5 year warranty dated from May 13th, 2022 nor has a building inspector been out to inspect the work and close the building permit. My husband and myself have reached out weekly (3 weeks now) since the job was done requesting the warranty and a date of inspection. Josh the owner/manager of RTC is very rude and unprofessional. We have had no call, no call back when we have called the office and zero email since 5/13/22 in regards to finishing the job. I have read on other complaints that he likes to say the "other parties" were rude or aggressive. We have been nothing but kind, extremely patient and are not asking for anything that we/our insurance did not pay for. I have an unreal amount of emails that we have sent and received. We have written down all the times and people we have reached out to at RTC with no follow up or the run around. We are very easy going people that just want the job done correct and the job DONE.Business response

The inspection has been completed. I apologize this didn't happen in the time frame you wished it could have been done. Not sure why this is a complaint after the roof was taken care of in a timely manner. We completely replaced your roof 4 weeks after your first contact that seems like a timely response. We are not obligated to give any warranty beyond our initial warranty.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:Josh V*****, owner of the roofing portion of RTC, is refusing to provide us with the new 5 year workmanship warranty after replacing the roof on 5/13/22. Josh is using his typical unprofessional and condescending response to this complaint. Josh tries to state that after "first contact", he is referring to the email finally sent to RTC from my husband (after speaking with a lawyer) about what our next steps would be if the roof didn't get replaced, he completed the job within a timely manner. We tried calling and having a conversations with RTC employees for 3-4 weeks prior to that email. Josh maybe thinks he did us a favor by replacing the roof but all he did was fix his companies lack luster original job from 2019 that we had contracted, we had a warranty on and was paid in full.....so he did his job and what was guaranteed (after TONS of back and forth) not a favor. After trying to reach out to Josh in regards to the warranty and closing the permit, it was only done so after he received my BBB complaint. The first town inspector showed up, Thursday 6/2, within 24 hours of the BBB complaint and was unable to complete the inspection because RTC did not have ladders in place. The inspector then came back today, Friday 6/3, and was finally able to complete the inspection. I will not apologize for being strict on follow up about the permit because the first one in 2019 was NEVER closed. That means we would have been finically responsible for replacing the roof even though RTC was paid to do it and yet never finished the job. When the job was completed my husband called to notify Josh via the phone about be doing and how he can get the ladders. Josh stated to my husband " he would give his the new warranty if we took back out BBB complaint." If this doesn't show what kind of business owner he is than I don't know what would.
All in all, the job is completed. We have a new roof that passed inspection (per the town) and we are hoping the permit gets properly closed. We will follow up with the town in the next 30 days about that. I want ALL documentation about Josh and the way he runs RTC in the open. Our original warranty is still good until 2024, so we will leave that be because we know that Josh will never follow through on giving us the new one his company stated we would get. We have all our ducks in a row should Josh choose to not honor his companies work and we will seek legal action.
