On 4/24/23 bought some bottles of Prosecco and ******* at *******. The item we had an Issue with is a 187ml bottle of Mionetto Prosecco, which cost $3.99. We could't open the bottle as designed. There is a plastic cap molded on to a metal bottle cap. The adhesion between the plastic and metal cap broke. We couldn't turn the metal cap with with an unconnected plastic cap. In order to get the metal cap off I cut the plastic cap off with a razor blade and then had to cut the metal cap off with the razor blade again. During this process we lost half of the Prosecco in the bottle. At 6:15P on 4/30/23 we brought **************** back, with cut cap, to ******* and explained what happened. The Store Manager said that their is nothing they can do since I didn't bring the bottle in when we were having the opening problems. My complaint is about customer relationships. When a regular customer has a problem with a poor bottle cap design and the store can't supply a replacement item to the customer I wonder. With a loss of $3.99 they could have given us a replacement bottle. Hopefully by you reaching out to ******* they will understand that customer relations are important.Business response

******* makes every effort to meet our customers' needs and expectations. The policy that we have in place for returned or replacement items is as follows: If an item is bad or damaged, we will replace the item with a similar item of the same cost, within 30 days of purchase, providing that there is still product left in the bottle. (i.e., a bottle of wine with a damaged cork would need to have no more than a glass or two removed). We do not replace or refund any item that is completely empty. This policy is necessary due to individuals wanting replacement or refund on items that they consumed. We are sorry that ************ had this negative experience.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
We had problems opening a 187ml bottle of Mionetto Prosecco. 187 ml is 0.8 cups. As most consumers of the 187 ml bottles of sparkling wine know that the caps are hard to get off. I would trust ******* is aware of this difficultly.As noted in the original complaint we lost almost half the bottle in when cutting off the cap of the bottle. Yes we drank the remaining sparkling wine, a third of a cup, but we did lose more than a 1/3 of a cup of the wine and made a sticky mess along with the hassle of cutting the plastic and metal cap off with a razor blade. No weren't going to save the remaining sparkling wine in a bottle with an usable cap to bring back to the store, which is 30 minutes away from where we were going to drink it.
To me ******* should
povide ** with a replacement 187ml bottle of Mionetto Prosecco and dispose of the defective bottle appropriately.
