The beginning of May 2023 I hired The Moving Geeks of ******** ******** to move my personal belongings from a storage unit in north ******** to a storage unit in south ********. They picked up my belongings and that is the last I have seen of them. I have tried to retrieve my belongings without some kind of authoritative intervention. I have to get someone else involved if possible. I have been homeless for 5 years this month. I have always been able to find some kind of roof for myself, however, that changed on March 1. I began living between my storage unit and a shelter 20 miles north. The storage facility found out and evicted **** had been sober for the previous 4 years. Living in a storage unit put me over the edge and I relapsed. I was scheduled to enter rehab on May 11. Which I did. I specifically told them in a text that as of 6 pm on the 11th I would have no electronic devices for 30 days A requirement. I told the two moving persons the same information on that morning, and gave them a hand written note as to what to do and that I would be out of contact. Neither note seems to have been read. I am not sure if the movers spoke English. The note of course seems to have been lost. He phoned my number for 4 days days and having not reread what I had told him in the text he did something with my belongings. I dont know what. I could never get an address from him. He then said, for $2100 he would move them for me. He added, when I **** well please. I now accused him of never having my things all along. Unfortunately for me what he has done is not criminal. It is civil. I knew that all along and tried to bluff my way through this. He now answers (if he answers) with See you in court I dont know what else I can do except inform you and write up a yelp page I have to admit that I made some bad Decisions. I had been consistently drunk for the previous 10 weeks. The five days before I came here to this facility I was extra drunk. I have been sober since then.Business response

The situation this gentleman is describing was very different from what really happened which is the following. He called us to move him from his storage to another storage unit about 10 minutes away, he had not yet secured the unit we were taking his belongings to when we got there he explained he would have a storage unit for us to take his belongings to before we got done loading his original storage. We started loading his belongings and before we were done we called him to tell him we were almost done and we needed the new storage number and code to enter the gate he never provided us with that information he just gave us a name of a place we showed up there and I explained to people there that owner sent us there and that we were there to unload his stuff. They told us there was nobody with a storage there with that name and they could not give us more information, we tried calling him several times that day he did not answer the entire truck was fully loaded with his belongings and we needed truck the following next 4 days because we had jobs scheduled that we had to cancel. We tried calling him, emailing him several times, we went as far as going to police station to see if they could find him. After 5 days of this we gave up and unloaded his stuff in a shed that was not secured because he had not paid for further services or storage with us. He finally reached out about ****************************************************************************************** our truck and a percentage of jobs we had to cancel because we couldnt use our truck because his stuff was in there. We dont store or keep customers belongings that dont pay for that service, we had no further instructions on what to do with his stuff so we unloaded it with no responsibility.
