As part of an industry-wide review of CBD businesses in our service area, BBB requested that Plenty Wellness modify its online advertising to be in compliance with the BBB Code of Advertising.
BBB initially contacted the business on February 23, 2023 in regards to their website which features claims about the health benefits of CBD Oil.
Section 34 of the BBB Code of Advertising addresses Claimed Results, where it states, "Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data."
BBB requested that the business review their advertising and provide substantiation based on recent, reliable, competent testing for each of the health claims made and to discontinue any advertising that is in violation of FDA and FTC mandates for this industry.
Plenty Wellness indicated that they were undergoing a website redesign and would take our recommendations into account once their new site was online. They later objected to our analysis of their advertising and attempted to substantiate the health-benefit claims that remained on their newly developed site. BBB determined that the business's substantiating information was insufficient.
