Wild country Plumbing was sent a letter and supporting documents to back up my positions, regarding some problems on our job and their billing. They refused to contact me and discuss the issue, refused to refund or reduce the amount they overcharged me, they refuse to stand behind the incorrect work they did, and rather than having a conversation to resolve the issue, they made threats of filing a lien on my property. I discussed this with my attorney, and we decided the cost of litigation was more than paying the invoices. We decided to pay what they demanded and put them behind us. However, any person looking for a contractor should be aware of their business practices. I highly recommend that you steer clear of this company.

Wild County Plumbing LLC denies the allegations of Mr. *********** *******. His allegations are false.

Both the management team and legal counsel have been in communication throughout this issue. All work was performed to code and all charges were proper, were disclosed prior to invoicing, or were disclosed as per the change order provisions of the Agreement. The charges were then explained again after invoicing and such invoices were paid. A lien was never filed on the property by Wild Country. Any "incorrect work" is the result of the negligent actions of Mr. ******* and/or his agents.

It is a misrepresentation of the facts that Mr. ******* has "put them behind us" as I am still having to respond to his frivolous, groundless, and meritless complaints.

Poor communication was always an issue with Wild Country Plumbing (WCP), especially at the end of the job. My statement was accurate. To be clear, the moment I requested Wild Country Plumbing correct the invoice and rectify the installation errors referred to in the original complaint, communication from the WCP stopped, and has never resumed.
When I asked for clarification and corrections regarding the billing, and for them to rectify the installation mistakes, the only replies I got were emails threatening to put a lien on my property unless I paid the bill at once, and denials of any liability for their work and incorrect billing. (emails attached) I paid the bill in full. Following another incident, which happened post the BBB complaint, I did receive correspondence from the attorney of WCP. Details below.

WCP received the installation schematic and instructions, and subsequent emails emphasizing the critical nature of the equipment's proper placement, before they accepted the job of installing the water meter equipment. Wild Country Plumbing did not follow the simple directions to install the equipment and in fact installed it incorrectly. When it was discovered to have been installed wrong, they declined to correct it, claiming I had assumed liability for their error. Contrary to their position, the installation did not pass an inspection, an inspection that I arranged, nor did it pass any other inspection. (city water department notes/inspection attached). In order to get the water turned on for the tenants who were moving in the next day, the Town water commissioner required that I accept the risk of the faulty placement of the Y-Strainer, knowing it would likely cause a problemn with the meter, which it did within a week.  Although I accepted the risk in order to get the water turned on. Contrary to the comment WCP made on the invoice, I did not accept responsibility for the improper work performned by WCP and I expected them to correct their mistakes. They refused.

I was forced to employ a different plumber to correct WCP's work and clear the debris that had already built up in the meter. This plumber removed and cleaned the meter and corrected the faulty installation of the y-strainer by placing the y-strainer in the correct sequence. Proving that the statement WCP made on the invoice that it would not fit in the water shed was clearly false. (invoice and media attached)

In addition to improperly installing the water meter and equipment, Wild Country Plumbing reduced the 2" water main I had installed, to a 1" main line. (photo attached) I had to have this corrected by another plumber also, as WCP refused to do it.
There was never any communication or understanding that there was only a 1" water supply. (documentation attached)
Clearly, a 1-inch water line is insufficient for a building that contains five two-bedroom apartments, a multi unit laundry room, and 1700 square feet of commercial space. Any competent plumber would recognize this fact, not to mention the documentation between us clearly called for 1 3/4" water lines. (a 2" line was used since there was no 1 3/4" meter available).
Wild Country Plumbing did not perform the installation according to the plans and communications we had. they chose to cut corners and only run one 1" water line to supply the entire building. When I saw thay had done this, I required them to install a second line to connect to the existing water line that services units 4 and 5 and the commercial area to obtain adequate water flow, as per our contract and communications. Wild Country Plumbing installed the second 1" water line to connect the north half of the building, then billed me over $1,700.00 for this line, a line that was clearly included in the original communication which informed the bid, and one that was required for adequate water flow. Not to mention the bid states that all pex is included. This was NOT a change order as they claim, it was a correction required by me, of improper work performed by Wild Country Plumbing. I have disputed this charge and they refuse to refund this money.

The bill that included the water line also included a $4,200.00 charge for looping and removing heater lines in the attic, a service I hired them to do after the initial project began. I have discovered that they failed to obtain the necessary permits and inspections for this part of the job, yet they billed me as though it had been completed and assured me it was ready to charge once we had water to the building. (All obtained permits are attached) Upon obtaining the water to the building we hired a company to charge the heating suystem and when they charged the lines, they discovered a significant flood in the attic. We found that this was due to Wild Country Plumbing's negligence in leaving two heater lines cut, unlooped, and uncapped. (They also did not remove any of the lines billed me to remove) This oversight led to thousands of dollars in damages. (documentation attached)

Despite being notified of the emergency flooding, and the resulting damage, Wild Country Plumbing's management has not responded, except through their lawyer, who continues to deny responsibility for WCP's work. During the flood emergency, I attempted to contact the owner of Wild Country Plumbing through phone calls, texts, and emails, yet there was no reply. Several days post-flood, (also post BBB complaint) I received an impolite and unconstructive letter from a lawyer claiming representation of Wild Country Plumbing. This was the first time I have ever heard from this person.

It is absurd for Wild Country Plumbing to fault me and my fellow contractors for their substandard workmanship, and it is unethical to withhold billing details and decline to rectify billing mistakes. Wild Country Plumbing, as a licensed contractor, ought to act responsibly. It is unfathomable that any firm would fail to support the work they were compensated to do and refuse to correct billing discrepancies. This behavior is unethical, irresponsible, and reprehensible.

We do not plan on putting this matter behind us.

I regret hiring Wild Country Plumbing, and I can not recommend them.

      Sincerely,
      *********** *******

*****, you continually repeat  the sames innacurate and mistruthful statements over and over again.

Communications between the parties stopped when you included your attorney.

All work was done to code pursuant to the contract you signed.

The contract contains provisions for change orders.

All damage occurred after we were removed from the job site and were the result of you or your workers altering work or failing to abide by instructions.

You lack the ability to take responsibility for the your own actions.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

      The company is lying. Period.

I have documentation, emails, videos, invoices, a failed inspection report, proof of property damage due to their faulty workmanship, proof of their faulty workmanship, invoices from others who I had to pay to correct Wild Country Plumbing's work, and witnesses. Wild Country Plumbing has been provided with all of this, and yet they still refuse to do the right thing.

This speaks volumes as to the lack of character and lack of ethics this company has. Steer clear.

      Regards,

      *********** *******

Date: 21 July 2022: called Wild Country Plumbing (Bx 553; Montrose,CO) to repair leaking bathtub hotwater faucet. No mention of a service charge. They came, removed hot water stem, saw no problem and put it back in place. Then told me this was all they knew how to do. Next called their supervisor, then told me they still didn't know how to repair it & for me to call another plumber. I was shocked because they didn't even take out the inner seat to check it, much less look further beyond the seat. After only 10 minutes here, they left without repairing problem. So I called another plumber who came next day-22 July 2022. He immediately/correctly troubleshot the problem. He took out the seat and showed me the serious damage there, requiring opening up the tile wall and replacing the entire hot/cold faucet assembly, which cost $500. But totally repaired the problem. Then, surprisingly on 29 July, I received email bill(***********************) from Wild Country stating I owed $150 for a service call. I immediately called them and told them that I had been wrongly billed because their plumber neither troubleshot the problem or repaired it and then left without doing any repairs. They said I still had to pay. So I told them I would not because no repairs were done. Then, even more surprising, on 2 Aug 2022 I received a certified letter from Wild Country threatening that if I didn't pay the $150 service charge they would put a lien on my property, take me to court and have to pay their attorney, etc. And, that it didn't matter whether or not they repaired the problem or not, I still had to pay the service charge. I feel that if this goes public their reputation will be destroyed because it appears to be is a scam technique to intentionally send unqualified people who can't/won't repair basic plumbing problems, have them leave you stranded, then send a service charge bill & then threaten legal action if unpaid.

On 7/21/22, we received a call for a leaking tub faucet from Mr. *******. We dispatched two field techs out to his residence. Upon arriving, Mr. ******* informed the two techs that the shower stem was new and still leaking. Based on this information, the techs disassembled the shower valve on the assumption that it was not seated properly in the valve. After reinserting the stem it still leaked. This is when the two techs made a call to me. It was at this time that we discovered that the stems were in fact not new. Mr. ******* stated that he had replaced only the stem 2-3 years prior, but not the seats. I then proceeded to tell the techs to replace the stem and seats in the valve. Mr. ******* refused this service as he said he could do it on his own. The techs then informed Mr. ******* that if this did not resolve the problem that the valve body would need to be replaced which would require cutting into his wall. He proceeded to tell the techs that if the stem and seats did not work he would be giving me a call personally.

We always attempt the quickest and most inexpensive route before diving into something that would cost more. Similar to a doctor looking at an injured knee, there would be cause for concern if the doctor defaulted directly to surgery, rather than physical and occupational therapy. It is only after less invasive steps are taken do you perform surgery.

One of the techs dispatched indeed does retain his residential license in the state of Colorado and is more than qualified for service work. Mr. ******* seemed to be very concerned with the age of the techs and focused on that during their time spent at his residence. Mr. ******* was billed based on the work/services provided. We did trouble shoot and diagnosis the issue and the proper steps to take to rectify his issue. Mr. ******* denied any further work and stated that he could do that on his own.

We received a call from Mr. ******* threatening a law suit if we did not forgive the balance due which came out to $150, our going hourly rate. It was at this time we sent an intent to lien because of the refusal to pay. It was never and has never been in our interest to seek more from our customers or community than what we deserve. All we asked from Mr. ******* is compensation for the time spent on his job and the information that was provided to him. We did offer to fix his problem, but again, he refused that service.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The business’s last response to my complaint was full of untruths. I was present when the techs called this man because they didn’t know how to fix the problem, so I can witness that His statements about what I and they said are untrue. I have the receipt from my recent purchase of the new stems and new seats which had been replaced. So claiming that I said they were 2-3 years old is a lie.

Also, although I asked the tech to take the seats out and inspect them and to look beyond them into the assembly, he did not. So saying they diagnosed the problem or worked on the leak is a lie.

Also, the techs never mentioned to me about either replacing the valve body or doing any work on the tile wall. That is also lie.

I also never told the tech I would be calling you. So that is also a lie.

My work request to Wild Country Plumbing was for the leak to be repaired. However, other than taking out one new stem (10 seconds), which was not the problem, there was no trouble-shooting provided by Wild Country Plumbing. And, since the leak was not repaired, there was no work done. When the tech said “We don’t know what else we can do, it’s up to you”, I told them I would call another plumber.

When I received a bill from Wild Country Plumbing for a service-call for work they had not done, I called their office to complain about the improper billing. They then threatened to legally come against me and sent an email to me threatening to put a lien on my property if I didn’t pay their scam bill. So I told them, quote “I will take you to court if you do”. As you can see from their first response, their caring business policy is ‘even if they don’t fix it you still have to pay them’.

All I ask from Wild Country Plumbing is to do the right thing. Billing a customer for work they obviously ‘couldn’t and didn’t do’ is not the right thing.

I had to pay another plumber for another service-call and to diagnose and do the work. It was very expensive, but they completed the work perfectly to my satisfaction and I gladly paid them for their good work.

My final request is that you spend your time working on people’s plumbing problems in a professional way and stop harassing them to make your money.
