I brought my 1992 Mercedes Benz 300D to Buckskin Towing & Repair on Sunday (5/1/22) for glow plug replacement. I provided them with the 5 glow plugs that needed replacement as I got them cheaper than they were trying to up-charge me for them. Monday (5/2/22) I went to pickup the car & pay the $400 bill i was quoted. When I arrived they told me it was actually $600 charge as they broke SEVERAL items in the engine & body of the car during repairs. What I didn't understand when I paid the bill, so i could have my keys, is that they were charging me for the labor & parts they spent while "fixing the fagile parts" that they had broken. They broke the hood release to the hood of my car & replaced it with a shitty zip tie instead of the Benz part & charged me labor to "fix" it. They also were super rough with the engine while replacing the exhaust manifold (which they had to remove to put in new glow plugs) & they broke a metal linkage piece which connects my accelerator. They "replaced" that piece they broke by "fabricating" a metal scrap in place of it which could be a serious hazard as the accelerator could get stuck or break while in use as it is just a piece of scrap metal which could melt or break if it gets too hot from the engine as it is not a Mercedes engine part. I did ask to see the broken/replaced parts when i went to pickup the car & they refused to find them in the trash where they had buried them to try to hide their mistakes. I asked if i could dig through the trash myself (as I wanted to keep the original parts to the car) & i was denied rudely. They also were rough with the harness connecting the glow plugs & charged me for the labor to replace it without my consent. They broke all these parts & "fixed" them cheaply without my knowledge before I paid the bill & without my prior consent to my car. I would like my $ returned so I can take my car to a real mechanic who while actually thoroughly inspect & correctly fix my car. Much Love, ****Business response

We did work on this customer's vehicle as he states. The vehicle is 30 years old and in rough shape. The customer diagnosed his own vehicle and asked us to replace his glow plugs. When our tech (35+ years of experience) pulled the hood release latch, it literally broke in his hand. We replaced the latch at no charge to the customer. We replaced the glow plugs as he asked, but the car was still running poorly. He asked us to work on the kick down linkage for the accelerator. When the tech attempted to remove the linkage, it also broke in hand. This is an OLD CAR with OLD PARTS! We were not rough in anyway with his vehicle. We work on thousands of cars every year and we would not stay in business if we did not handle our customer's vehicles with care. Once the linkage broke when the tech removed it, we had to fabricate a metal shaft and new ends to make the kickdown linkage operational again. This fabrication was necessary as they do not manufacture parts for this vehicle anymore. We were in constant contact with the customer. We have text messages to prove that fact. We did everything we could to take care of his issues, but this is an old, worn-out vehicle. I'm sorry this customer was not pleased with the outcome, but we did everything he asked us to do. We do not feel that a refund of any kind is warranted in this matter.
