I will never refer Elmer's Sheet Metal to ANYONE. They installed a roof mount A/C on my house and after considerable damage to my home due to shoddy installation I would never recommend them for anything. They Did Not insulate the ducting inside the attic, nor did they seal the seams of their ductwork. In some places a human hand could fit between their connections of ducting. I have since learned that the ducting should have been insulated inside the ducting and all fittings (seams) should have been sealed then insulation wrapped around the outside of the ducting. Because they did none of this, we had a build up of condensation that leaked through 2 layers of drywall and dripped through the ceiling. Contractors had to remove 8'x10' of ceiling in order to dry the moisture out. I then had to hire an A/C contractor to insulate the ducting and seal the seams so outside air could not get into the attic. Once this was completed the contractor could reinstall the drywall, texture and paint the ceiling. The entire project cost me $2,540.12 not including the attic insulation that had to be removed because of it was sopping wet.

Your job was inspected by *************** Bldg ********** and passed. We have been in business for over 55 years, We dont, do shabby work or installations. In your letter you stated that, We did not insulate the duct work inside the attic, nor did we seal the seams of the duct work. As per your written estimate dated October 23, 2023, line item #3 states, That the duct work to be installed would be insulated using R-8 insulation, which we did. We also sealed everything with tape or duct mastic per ******************** It also states that we would insulate all 8 and 10 non-insulated duct work. Had we not done this, you would have had condensation within the first couple of months of operation. We would also like to mention that this is a cooling only unit. Condensation can only be created during the summer, when there is a heat load in the attic. I would guarantee you that in the 10+ years that this was installed you would have had this problem within the first one to two months of the installation. Upon review of *************** Permits being pulled for your home. We found that a new roof was installed on 10/23/23. Since the date of the roof installation, we have had multiple snowstorms, and heavy rain. I would be concerned that the re-roofing had something to do with the water/condensation build up in your attic being that this had not happened in the last 10 years!
