July 22, 2021, my partner and I were rerouted from 170 in Colorado due to flash-flooding and ended up in Steamboat Springs. We located lodging at Vacation Legacy Club on **** **** ***** *** ********* ******** ** ***** *** ***********. I reserved the room at 9:42 pm. My ******* *** credit card was used by *********** to hold the room but the hotel was responsible for charging me for the room. We arrived at the hotel but was told my reservation wasn't showing up in their system. I was advised by the front office clerk for Vacation Legacy Club to make the reservation again . I reserved the room again at 10:00 pm through *******. The front clerk then advised to book it through the website: *************************************. My traveling partner, attempting to be helpful and sensing my frustration, used his cell phone to make the reservation and put it under his name at 10:08 pm. My credit card was used. All these actions were done at the advice of the hotel clerk and directly in front of him. The reservation through the website showed up in the system and we got our room. A few days later, I checked my credit card account statement and saw that I had been charged three times for the room. I contacted the resort at their reservations line to request a refund for two of the charges. I was told they found the three reservations and that I had been counted as a “no show” for two of the reservations but there was nothing that they could do and that I had to contact the specific hotel I stayed in. I contacted the hotel but I was immediately transferred to back to the reservations department. I spoke with them again about the situation and was offered a free night but other than that, was told they couldn't help. I contacted the hotel in Steamboat Springs again and they also could not help. I ended up paying for two rooms for the one night. They offered a free stay but I won't be returning for one night.

I recently had booked a trip to Steamboat for WWG. I booked my hotel stay through *********** at Hilltop Legacy resort. With the winter storm, all flights were cancelled and through various tries to find connecting flights throughout the continental US, my vacation had to be cancelled because the result was nil. Hilltop Legacy denied waving my cancellation fee even though I tried explaining how there was absolutely no way of getting there. I was charged $824.44 cancellation fee on a $951.84 booking. This business is not one that belongs in Steamboat and I would definitely usher the public to not do business with them. I felt that everyone should know how this business handles people that come to Steamboat Springs, CO
