During my annual visit In October 2023, North Washington Dental billed me $175 for an exam and cleaning that is 100% covered by my Delta Dental insurance. The insurance claim was denied because the office used the name of a dentist who was no longer employed at the office and who had actually been fired two months prior for performing unnecessary procedures on patients.Despite half a dozen phone calls to the office, the staff at North Washington Dental has failed to issue a refund.

Patient had claims that had pending payment and was informed that we can credit and refund once we receive final payment from insurance. The last payment was received yesterday and patient should have received the same copy of the explanation of benefits breaking down what her financial responsibility is and what insurance will cover. A refund had been submitted pending final payment from insurance which has been updated as well.

I paid upfront for a cosmetic treatment - Invisalign. I have not even been able to finish the treatment as it has caused severe jaw locking as to which the providers have never bothered helping with. I received a call almost a year later from the front desk agent saying they are sending me to collections as i have not paid for what insurance didn't cover. I wasn't under any impression this cosmetic treatment (a portion of it) was being billed to insurance. Of course insurance wouldn't cover orthodontic treatments- I understand my insurance policy and have worked in billing. They fraudulently are billing me this amount. The front office manager said she would talk to "her boss" and get back to me and never did. Front desk ***** called again and said I was being sent to collections. After arguing with her because i have never once even received a bill- i asked her to have the office manager call me again and i cannot get ahold of anyone in management to resolve this. I am on a local neighborhood app where there are 15+ SIMILIAR COMPLAINTS. This is a trend- and it is not okay. If you are going to bill me for charges I didn't authorize to be sent to insurance atleast send me an actual bill to review before i am sent to collections. Maybe put in the referral with the specialist to treat the *** so i can also finish this ridiculous treatment!

Hello, my name is ******************************* and I am the Practice Manager here at North Washington Dental. I have spoken to the patient on November 30, 2023 regarding their account. Due to the treatment being completed prior to me starting, I audited the account and adjusted any amount that should not have been billed to the patient. Per our contract with the patient's insurance, we are to send a claim regardless of payments from insurance to inform them of any medical treatment being performed on the patient so there is no fraudulent treatment being billed to insurance. Patient was actually misquoted showing an estimated payment from the insurance even though they do not have any coverage for the treatment, hence the lower estimated patient portion. Here at North Washington Dental, we believe in doing the right thing and I adjusted the balance for the patient only charging the the lab cost to which they agreed. Since patient still has attachments, I offered to have patient come into the practice to either have a consultation with our new provider as the one who started their treatment is no longer in the practice, or have the attachments removed and offered free retainers as they did not want to continue their treatment. However, patient stated they were sick and will call back to make the appointment. I sent the patient a new statement showing their adjusted balance which they paid online, so we were under the impression that the patient issue has been resolved. Patient does not have an appointment scheduled at the moment as they insisted they will call to make that appointment when they felt better which they have not at this point.
