My dog ended up having a gentic disorder.I am the past owner of Drizzle from the winter litter of standard poodles. He had to be returned to the ranch. When he came to us he was timid as noted in his orginal webcite post. He was in training to be a service dog. He was doing very well but it slowly became evedent that somthing was wrong. Developing over about a 6month time. His vet noted that he was showing signs of early onset alzheimer's. He started to show signs of aggression. Not his fault. Due to us loving him so much we trierd to have him stay home as he could no longer go in public. Then the night came that he came 2 inch from biting my face. He could no longer be in our home. We called ***** and the ranch to return him via our contract and trierd to explain his problem to them. They came as we packed all his toys.....he was spoiled rotten so many toys haha. Now we were told by them when we were ready we could get a new puppy from them. We as a family meaning me and my mother are both disabled and dicided a home service dog whos only task is alerting would be best and a small breed would be helpful. Now after contacting those at the ranch have said 1. I can not have a small dog as I have epilepsy......not every sezuire looks the way you see on tv. I do not convolse 2. They think drizzle was abused. but are still willing to give us a dog. just not small..Mind you we have vet proof. Please if your dog came from any of the winter litter or desendents becarefull and watch. We love ******* and miss him dearly.Business response

On January 10th, 2022 our client purchased a standard poodle for the intent of training the dog for service work. On October 5th, 2023 the dog the client purchased was surrendered to Powder Valley Poodles. At that time it was explained to us that the dog the client had purchased had developed significant anxiety and fear that resulted in them being unable to take the dog out in public. The client gave us a large bag of toys, two dog beds, a bag of treats, a bag of dog food, collar, leash and service vest as well as five pages of veterinary notes and two pages of client's hand written notes, Never did the client mention any concerns from the vet regarding any behavioral defect as this would have prompted us to immediately get our veterinarian involved and have the dog evaluated. At this time the client was told that we would give her another standard poodle puppy with the temperament suited for service work. We reached out to the client multiple times from January and in to February 2024 to notify her we had suitable standard poodles available. The client mentioned they no longer needed a service animal and would prefer to exchange for a tiny/toy breed. On February 21st 2024, I spoke with the client and advised her of our concerns with her taking a very small breed and ask for additional information if she intended to use this dog as a seizure alert service animal with it sleeping in bed with her. I was attempting to explain to her the differences in not only physical fragility but also emotional fragility between a large and small breed as well as discuss our concerns with the behavior of the dog she surrendered. At this time the client hung-up on me. Shortly afterwards we received an email from the clients mother, to which we again attempted to offer an explanation. I am able to provide additional information to the condition and behavior of the dog while being surrendered through present, if needed.
At no time was this client refused a dog. We were attempting to converse with the client, express our concerns with the size and personality differences between the dogs and to offer a slightly larger breed that would be suitable for their needs. Unfortunately the client did not allow that conversation to proceed and now wants no contact by our business.
