DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Not only do they charge significantly more that other companies, they are rude and try to take advantage of single moms. I used them because they came recommended by someone who used to have a plumbing business. Their price was much higher but my friend assured me they would stand by their work so I could rest assured that it was money well spent. It wasn’t. When they were doing the installation, the two guys that were here called me to come downstairs to tell me that some thing was gushing water everywhere and that they didn't cause it, it couldn’t be fixed and needed to be replaced. When I had looked at everything when they got here, everything was dry/no leak. So somehow in 45 minutes after they were here a gushing leak sprung. The replacement would be almost $400 and they didn’t do it. The owner showed up and I told Matt that was unacceptable and he found out that it was really just a rubber O-ring that needed to be replaced because it broke when they pounded on something. I was upset at their attempt to take advantage and told Matt so. That was a couple of weeks ago.. Since the hot water heater replacement, I haven't really been able to take a shower for longer than five minutes. I haven't wanted to deal with them again for obvious reasons but I also wanted them to complete their job to customer satisfaction so I called on Monday and the lady said that Matt would come out today and look at it. When Matt called me he said that isn't something that is a cause of changing out the hot water heater but that he could come and give me an estimate for new work. I said why would I pay for new work when this wasn't an issue prior to changing out the hot water heater and he said that I'm just looking for problems. He also accused me of saying "you're going to regret this" when what I was going to say was "you're going to accuse me of trying to find problems"? but he cut me off. He was incredibly rude. Now I have cold showers.

    Beck's Plumbing & Heating Response

In response, Ms. I**** called our company based on a referral. We were happy to come out at her convenience to give her a diagnosis and free estimate for the replacement of her expired-passed-serviceable-date water heater. She was given a quote for installation at her request. She complained about the price of the quote before work began. We offered to match another reputable plumber’s quote in which she never provided. We gave her a discount to make the price more comfortable and affordable for her. She accepted our quote and scheduled an appointment for installation. With a phone call to Ms. I**** prior to our arrival, Ms. I**** led our technician to the water heater to begin work. To disassemble and remove the expired existing water heater, it was necessary to shut off the water main in a separate closet. The technician noticed a drip coming from the Pressure Reducing Valve. Our technician called the master plumber who was down the street bringing the new water heater. The technician informed Ms. I**** about the leak, she became accusatory and belligerent. When the master plumber, Mathew B***, arrived minutes later, he reassured Ms. I****, nothing was done by the technician to cause a leak. Mathew then continued to find a pinch in the existing 25 year old O ring on the PRV. This PRV was repaired by us for free of charge. This was explained to Ms. I****. We reassured her that there would be no extra charge, and the repair would be included in the price of the water heater. She let us proceed. The water heater and all its components were installed and it passed its start-up and Safely Combustion Test before leaving. Days later, Ms. I**** paid for the installation in full. Sixteen days passed when Ms. I**** called our office to complain about the water temperature coming from only one shower faucet. Because she is our customer and just received service two weeks ago, we quickly put her on the schedule for another appointment at her request. Mathew, called Ms. I**** en route. Ms. I**** complained that now two faucets were not producing long times of hot water. Mathew informed Ms. I**** that of course the water heater is under warranty and we are happy to double check our work, but malfunctioning faucets could be another issue. He stated to her that we stand by our warranties and other plumbing issues would be requiring a separate diagnosis and free estimate. Ms. I**** hung up on Mathew. Then shortly called back to let him know he will “regret it" and continued to be belligerent. She then refused the free visit claiming she was uncomfortable with us entering her house. We care about our customers and are very disappointed to receive our first complaint ever. We look forward to resolving this issue before Ms. I**** does any more damage to our reputation on ******, ********, and other social media platforms.

    Customer Response

There are several mistruths in your reply. I did not become “belligerent” about the leak. I was just very clear that I wasn’t going to pay $400 for a part that was all of the sudden gushing water which hadn’t been there. I didn’t provide additional quotes because I accepted your quote so I didn’t see why I would? I didn’t ask for a discount and was never told about a discount. I paid the invoice, in full, within mins of getting the bill via email, not days later as is said in your response. I never hung up and then called you back. I agreed to let you come look at the hot water issue but then changed my mind after we ended the call because I realized I didn’t want you in my home. You told me that my lack of hot water had nothing to do with the hot water heater and you could invoice for new work. Why would I pay you to do work again? You accuse me of saying "you're going to regret this" when what I was going to say was "you're going to accuse me of trying to find problems"? but you cut me off and said you regret doing this job. I ABSOLUTELY regret hiring Becks. You are rude and unprofessional. Of course I was avoiding having you come back into my home. I would never hire them again and I don’t want someone like that in my home so I canceled what I thought was him coming to fix the issue but turned out to be him trying to charge even MORE!! I should be able to have confidence that I can hire a company to do the work they are hired and paid to do without them trying to get additional money from me in the process. Then they sent an email calling me "single and low income" and that I was "causing problems" because I want to be able to take a hot shower for more than 5 mins and not have to pay extra when I already paid them $2150 2 weeks ago. I had plenty of hot water for a shower before they installed a new hot water heater.. when I called Monday to report the lack of hot water I was VERY clear that this was since the replacement took place. I would never call them for new work. I didn’t provide comparisons because I chose to go with Beck’s so I don’t see why I would have? I’m not trying to cause problems as they accuse me…I was trying to have them complete a job they were paid for. I’m not sure why this is such a challenge to accomplish. I get yelled at by the owner (telling me it’s “not ****** ****, I can’t get mad and get free food”) insulted (I’m not asking for “free” anything, I’m asking for the work to be done to customer satisfaction) and have to deal with nasty emails calling me Names. Alluding to my “obvious inability to pay”. I DID pay. And since when is it ok to call someone out on their financial status ESPECIALLY if they have paid you in FULL. It’s really not a stretch to call Matt and his team bullies. I would caution you strongly NOT to use this company. I’m really not sure how they’re in business. I’d be happy to show anyone the emails that wants to see them. It’s pretty messed up.
