Received estimate from dental office for work, paid for the work, after insurance processed the claim the dentist over charged me by $572.73. I called and spoke to the office and manager and was told that "some items are not billed to insurance because they do not cover them and that I was not due a refund". The estimate does not disclose any work as not being covered or billable to insurance. The estimate was not signed by me there is a line thru the signature line not done by myself. ***************** states I am not responsible for the additional amounts charged by the dental office. The dentist took liberty to sand down a crown/tooth on the lower that was not authorized for work to fit the new crown on the top thus damaging the lower crown. Which will now require repair/replacement.

      Business response

      11/22/2022

In response to complaint filed by *****************,

Some of the information indicated by the customer is incorrect. Customer came to our office for intial ********************** appointment on 10/11/2022 that consisted of exam, xrays and dental cleaning. She was diagnosed with dental caries and recommended a treatment plan in order to address the diagnosis. The initial treatment plan estimate was provided to the patient at the intial appointment prior to her consenting to follow through with treatment and scheduling appointments for patient based on her requested availability (see attached dental estimate). This estimate encloses the treatment including any other fees the patient may inquire. All tx that has been done as of today, was included in this estimate and nothing changed after the treatment was done. As expalined in this estimate, the customer decided to use insurance as partial payment method and anything that is not paid for by insurance is patient responsibility. Lucky for the customer, insurance did pay on procedures as listed on the account ledger (see attached). I spoke with patient on 11/15/2022 about her concerns on some services that were not paid for by insurance and expalined to customer that at this time we were waiting on the last payment from insurnace that was posted on 11/18/2022. The patient was not refunded on 11/15/2022 as the fund from insurance were not recuieved yet. The patient now has an account credit as of 11/18/2022 that we are happy to address with her (please see attached documents).

I am rejecting this response because: I was not informed of ANY charges not being billed to insurance.  There is not a breakdown on the estimate that they attached.  That is NOT my signature on the form.  The additional $295 was not disclosed that it was optional and would not be billed to insurance for payment.  The estimate they attached does NOT give a breakdown of costs or coverages only a total amount.  Which they billed more than the $2127.00 estimate (billed insurance $2487.00)  I should not of been charged the additional $295 for services.  I am entitled to the full refund of $572.73.

Note that they did not address the issue of the dentist taking the liberty to sand down a tooth not authorized by me or listed on anything without my permission and damaging the tooth.

The acceptable outcome is the full refund of the $572.73.

      Sincerely,

      *****************
