Exactly what the others have said. Lies, excuses, never shows up, cries the blues to make you feel bad for him. When you call him out on text, he will send you nasty texts back using curse words etc. Tells you he had to put someone else on the back burner in order to do your job. Was supposed to have all our cabinets painted in time for Easter because we were having people here from out of the country and this guy blew us off and didnt have a care in the world about it. I was livid. Had no kitchen when 7 guests arrived. He gets mad at you when you call him telling him you want the job done. His work is awful! He is so sloppy and doesnt know what hes doing. Paint drips, paint peeling a day later. He never sanded anything down, just painted right over the old cabinets but will deny it and say he sanded them. He is a punk and will take your money. Your job will not get done and if it does get done, you will be calling someone else to come fix his mess. Very unprofessional, rude, ignorant. A scam artist at best! Stay far away!

I wish there was an option to rate with a negative number of stars! DO NOT GIVE SHAWN WINTERS ANY MONEY! Our experience is precisely the same as the other reviews on this page. We are beyond disgusted with the way Shawn Winters has conducted his "business". He has stolen $4200 from us and tries to turn it all around on his customers not being willing to understand setbacks. He completely ghosted us after collecting the money and when we told him we wanted the money back because we needed to hire someone who would actually do the work, he went on a tirade and basically said he is going to walk away from the business and work for someone else because 4 customers want their money back. We wanted to believe that Shawn was as respectable as he portrayed himself to be, but he surely showed us (and apparently many other customers) his true colors when he walked away with our money and all of the time we wasted waiting and trying to get him to do what he said he would.

This company is a scam. I truly think Shawn Winters runs a ponsi scheme at this point after dealing with him - taking deposits and then not doing work and hoping the customer will just go away. We had problems with him as soon as deposits were paid basically. Suddenly, all the promises were excuses and delays. First, we did not think too much of it, and figured it would get sorted out. Next, I felt badly as he gave us repeated sob stories about his poor finances, and I thought perhaps he was good intentioned but just having a one- off bad time. Last week, we looked more into him and found his online reviews and I realized we had been scammed. Note we have used all local Watertown people on our home renovations and had NO problem - only great experiences thank god. He however has been a disaster and major source of stress as no one likes to be defrauded. The below reviews are all accurate. We gave Shawn a chance as he seemed young and wanting to do business. Despite my hesitance and not wanting to use him as he is not a big company, he kept fighting for our jobs so we decided to give him a chance. HUGE MISTAKE. He currently holds $4,100 of our deposits which he will not return claiming poverty or that he "will:" do the job - despite having lied repeatedly to us and breached contract on our smallest job already. The work he did do, was horrific. I literally could not believe it - he painted over nails and hardware in my home office - did not do any prep - paint drip dried on wall all over. This despite all the promises of how professional his company is and how knowledgeable he was (same as the bs he fed everyone else below). When I gave him a 5th chance to make it right, he canceled 2x, then showed up for about 2.5 hours and did almost nothing. Do not use under any circumstances. He will do a terrible job or steal your money based on our experience. Note I am an attorney and not someone who is generally easy to con - but he coned me.

In my opinion this boy is a scammer. Stay away at all cost, he does not complete the work he takes payment for, then tries to upcharge to get him to finish. And what work he does do would fail 1st grade art class, he ****** 

STAY FAR AWAY!!! This man tells you what you want to hear. He will first come to your home and tell you how he is only 1 of 3 painters in CT that use this specific kind of paint (already chipping) and that he has a lifetime warranty. He will then pressure you into signing a contract and paying a 50% deposit to "hold your spot"...then you won't hear from him for awhile and he won't respond to your messages. Then he will tell you he is "starting your job" and will come take your cabinet doors and want you to pay another 25% for that. He won't start your project for weeks after that but yet he has 75% of the job total. He will tell you he is coming and not show nor message you to let you know. He will give you every excuse in the book. Once he finally shows up he will rush the job and make mistakes. He didn't sand the cabinets down like he said he would and used a different primer because he said it would be faster. Brown from the cabinets is now bleeding through. His photos from far away look nice but up close are far from it. His product also chipped after a few days. He claims he has a lifetime warranty but will not respond to messages when you request him to come back to fix his rushed mistakes. When he finally did respond after 3+ weeks he had more excuses to give me. He said he would touch base within a week but that was 5 weeks ago and i haven't heard from him since but he has time to message other people and try to pressure them for their business. He also peeled paint off my walls and backsplash but states that he is not responsible for that. If anyone is currently dealing with him ignoring your messages, I would suggest that you message him from another number. He is quick to call or respond back because it's not YOUR number. So if you want to deal with headaches, poor communication, excuses, and a rushed job .. Shawn is your man!!!

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT ever hire this company! They never finished the job at my house from last November (2021) and are not answering text messages or phone calls. I made the mistake of paying in full before they finished based on communications and promises that they would follow through. They will take your money and run. The part of the job they did do is sloppy and unprofessional with spatters of paint all over the windows of my front door, all over the brand new grill I bought my husband last year for Father’s Day, and on my grass and plants. The paint is coming off my shutters because instead of painting them in their workshop like they promised, they painted them in my grass and left them to dry in my sunroom which is not temperature controlled. It was too cold when they did this and now the paint is chipping off in big flakes. I also found all the old screws from the shutters in my flower garden when cleaning it up this spring. They also painted my garage door shut to the point that it wouldn’t open. In the contract they say they will paint the house to the “highest industry standards” which is a complete LIE. Save yourself the time, money and aggravation of having to take these clowns to court and hire someone that actually knows what they are doing and will follow through on their work. I wish I could go back in time and choose someone else. TERRIBLE COMPANY!!

Do not hire tis company. They owe me 900.00 for not doing a job...my house is peeling and shawn winters wont come over to fix even though he has a contract with a 5yr warranty. Wont return calls. He took 3months to paint a house and kept asking for more money up front. Definetly wouldnt recommend cityside paint!!!!!!!
