I hired Lonny Lewis LLC in Jan to do a basement renovation, paid in full over 53K. Part of the project included metal louver doors for both closets. Never saw them. He then said they were backordered and would be available for pickup on 3/28. I was reluctant to make final payment with open items (closet doors, finish framing door in garage, phone jack in the basement, sealing outside brick). He pleaded that he needed to pay his workers. I felt bad about that and gave him final payment. His crew still did not get paid for a few weeks and since left the company without pay. At that time, I decided to have the garage ceiling rebuilt to finish the remodel. Against better judgement, I approached Lonny. I said he could have the job only if he could guarantee it was finished in 2 weekends and during which time the closet doors would be available and could wrap up the original project. He agreed. I paid $2500 deposit (about half) He could not finish to the agreed upon time. I offered him a 3rd week. He did not respond for days. He said he was sick…then still could not guarantee to finish in the 3rd week. I told him to just finish the basement project at this point that was paid for, and I would hire someone else to finish the garage. He said he would call the next day and hung up on me. That was 4/4. Last time I heard from him. Ive tried many times since then to contact him for resolution. Attached are the emails, pictures and invoices. He also has done less than $2500 of the garage ceiling work and owes me for that. I let him know on 4/11 that I am prepared to take him to small claims court. He immediately sent me a bogus and false invoice crediting me for the louver doors but bumping the prices up for the little work he did complete in the garage to compensate. I itemized the invoice and offered to accept $358 (Email #3) refund and I would halt further action. If it goes to ***, it will be more to include more overcharges on the garage invoice.
