I had called the school numerous times to clarify any questions I had prior to starting straighterline courses for credit so it wouldn’t be a waste of money. The school kept transferring me and nobody seemed to know about their partnership with straighterline. Eventually I was told they do accept the credits. I had also made many inquires about the nursing program, i liked what I was hearing and started taking straighterline courses. Now im being told In order to get into the nursing program I need a certain amount of points to even be considered to their competitive program. Since I have taken most of my credits on straighterline and would be transferring them, there is no way I would make the points I would need to get into the program since I didn’t take any classes at Goodwin. Seems like a scam to make people take more course with them. I’m upset because I talked and talked to every department for clarification before starting straighterline credits and now I wasted so much money on courses for no reason. I don’t have money to waste and that’s why I called so many times to clarify first. Very disappointed.

We find the complaint without standing as Ms. ***** is not a student with Goodwin University.

Here are a statement of facts as taken from the Goodwin University Student Information System:

On 7/8/21, at 12:56PM, the Goodwin Admissions Office emailed Ms. ***** the Point System detailing how students earn points towards acceptance into the Associate Degree in Nursing program at the university.  In this email, there is also a hyperlink to a short video that details this point system.  To read that Ms. ***** has never learned about the point system is not plausible.

The Goodwin Admissions Office tried unsuccessfully to contact Ms. ***** on 7/12/21, 8/14/21, and 8/19/21 to respond to her initial inquiry about Goodwin's nursing program.  Further, there is no mention in the Ms. ******* file notes about her interest in taking coursework through Straighterline.

Ms. ***** then contacted the university on 11/8/22, to inquire about the Accelerated Bachelor's Degree in Nursing program.

Goodwin University will not be responding further to this complaint and consider this case to be closed.

I received a postcard in the mail last summer from Goodwin University stating that they had a nursing program being offered in ********** **. I inquired about the program and was told to enroll in school, which I did for the spring semester. It wasn’t until after I enrolled, went through new student orientation, spent almost 5 thousand dollars and actually started online classes that they finally admitted (through many attempts by me to find out information about the ********** program) that the program did NOT exist. They continued to lead me on with false hope that the program would open by this summer or fall semester at the latest, so I took the required summer classes to get the points needed to enroll in their nursing program, again spending almost 5 thousand dollars..only to finally find out at the end of the summer semester that they have no idea when this program will open. All the while I had told every person that I spoke to that I was only interested in the ********** program and that I was a single mother with no money to waste. I feel that I was lied to and scammed out of almost 10 thousand dollars, because of their false advertising of a program that does not exist. I have reached out to the university twice, with no response on their end, as to what they can do to remedy this situation. I would like a refund of my money (or a portion of it at the very least) for their blatant lies and misrepresentation.
