Purchased a used truck from A New England Auto and Truck on 4/18/23. On 4/22/23 the truck was having mechanical problems. We took it back to the dealership on 4/24/23 and they replaced a coil but test drove it and the problem was still there. The truck has been there at the dealership since and now she is refusing to fix the problem. We payed for a protection plan to cover things for 90 days. Her reasoning is she doesn't have the space or time.Business response

The customer purchased a $150.00 aftermarket warranty through **** ********** **** that covered the transmission and engine for 90 days. The truck drove well for the customer for a week before they loaned the truck to a family member who towed a trailer. After towing the customer noticed the issue. We inspected the truck and replaced an ignition coil, fuel injector, spark plugs, and a cylinder 1 deactivation solenoid free of charge. That did not resolve the issue so we further diagnosed the issue and found that the hydraulic lifter had failed; the failure was most likely due to improperly warming up the vehicle prior to towing.
We were unable to complete the lifter job due to staffing and space constraints as the customer stated. We called the warranty company and confirmed that the repair would be covered under the $ 150.00 warranty and it was covered. Diagnosis was not covered which is why we performed that for free as a courtesy. We recommended a local, trusted, and certified shop to complete the repair using their aftermarket warranty. The customer paid the other shop to diagnose the issue and they found the same problem we had identified for free. The problem is covered under their warranty and we recommend that they have the shop of their choice file a claim as soon as possible.
