With regard to my son ******* *******: "The *** ** ***** stopped moving on the side of the road half a mile from Karns auto sales and repair shop after work on 5/20/2024. Mom drove me to Karns and Dan, the owner was still there around 5:20 pm with another customer. ***** ********* ******* sent a tow truck and Dan, the owner at Karns said to have it towed to his shop listed above, in ********* and he would take care of it in the morning. Dan kept telling me that the vehicle would be ready by noon that day. At 2 pm 3 days later, Dan called and said it would be ready by 2:45 pm. We arrived at 3pm to pick up the vehicle. Dan left work and his wife charged over $1,100 dollars for Dan replacing the alternator in that 35 minutes. When I started the car it make a ticking noise in the engine. I popped the hood to find all the coverings over the engine were not attached and the engine was making a ticking sound. Dan's wife told us to wait for him to return. We waited another hour and he came up to us very defensively and yelling at us, saying he never removed the covers to work on the vehicle, he only replaced the alternator. We asked him to secure the covers. He did finally clip them down. The air conditioning system was not working since the repair. Dan then removed a new box and new belt from the front passenger side of the vehicle. I appeared to be the new alternator he said he installed. I believe he charged the battery and never installed the new altinator and charged for the full job and parts of installing a new alternator. If he had installed it, it would not still be new on the floor of the passenger side in my car with a new belt he also didn't install. He charged over $1100 for a job he didn't do. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint lodged against my business. At Karns Automotive, we take great pride in our long-standing reputation as a business with superior customer service and care. We hold major contracts with our local law enforcement, fire safety, ******, ******* ********, ********** *** ****** and have a very loyal customer following for more than 30 years. We always go above and beyond to satisfy our customers. Unfortunately, it seems this may be one customer that we were not able to satisfy.
I have attached to this email the customer's signed Invoice, the Credit Card Receipt, and a factual statement of the events that transpired with this customer in reference to his complaint. I have also included Mr. ********* complaint.
