I am often leery of modern day medical and dental service centers that show up in communities to provide medical or dental assistance to persons who have limited, or no health/dental benefits. Thus lies the basis for my complaint against Dr. Dental located at **** ******* ******* ******* *********** ***** My 84 year-old mother has been a patient at the Dr. Dental Clinic located at **** ******* ****** ******* *********** for the past three years. She choose them after her own dentist retired. She has Medicare dental insurance which includes a fifty percent co-pay. Several times I found it disturbing that her receipts for services rendered seemed to be inflated beyond the cost that she’d been quoted for the procedures. As a senior citizen she does not query the listing of procedures on her bill as she ought to, and often depends on me to oversee her medical appointments. Because I travel for work, I am not able to always follow her invoices in a timely manner. On Thursday, April 13, 2022, I accompanied my 84 -year -old mother to have a very loose tooth extracted from Dr. Dental. I spoke with Maritza a week before this appointment on April 8, 2022 to provide my mother’s dental insurance information and to inform her that I would need to take the day off from work to travel from *** **** to *********** to accompany her. She has become fearful about sitting in waiting rooms and visiting doctor’s since the covid virus outbreak. At that point Maritza began to quote me the prices for a mandatory exam and fees for the annual check -up needed to make up for the covid year that she had missed. They could then determine how serious the tooth extraction was, but she’d have to re-schedule another appointment for the extraction.
