My kitchen was in desperate need of a remodel. After getting several bids, I went with Express Kitchens in Stamford. First, they were the only place that would not do a design without someone coming out to measure and take pictures. They were flexible in making changes to the original design. They were also on budget an completed the work in a timely manner. The selections they had were varied and unique and the cabinets were much better than big box quality. With any project there were a few glitches that were quickly resolved. I could not be happier with my new kitchen. Kudos to all of the contractors who were artists at their work.

Jennifer at the store was amazing and very patient. Cat at customer service on the other hand is terrible. Let me start that we were never told they are new to appliances or would have rethought ordering them. Got an oversized refrigerator with handles on wrong side told by Cat I’ll send you the instruction book refer to page 9. Immediately upon seeing the refrigerator and from the answer I received I requested them to take it back was told it was plugged I. And they don’t take used appliances back. After much fighting and with much reluctant they sent someone to change it. Poorest customer service I have dealt with. Had chip in newly installed cabinet was told by Cat she’ll send touch paint or if I wanted a new cabinet they would not drill for the handle pulls????????????????????????? Appliances were delivered 3 weeks before install had to have my floor people move them around to install flooring. Basically told Deal With It. Overall the poorest customer service I’ve experienced in years.

Our sales person, Bob, was amazing. He designed an amazing kitchen for us, and coordinated everything seamlessly. I would highly recommend him! He picked an amazing installer. Our cabinet installation was perfect. The installers were on time and left everything neat and clean. They went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect in our 60 year old imperfect kitchen. Thank you so much!

Online ordering states returns have a 30% restocking charge. It doesn’t tell you that you will go through hoops to do a return and they “special orders” or “nonstock items” are not returnable. Took five different people to finally find that out. Pathetic customer service.

The worst. Ordered a kitchen and bathroom vanity and countertops. The vanity top overhang was too far, although they said it was standard, and then the holes were not correctly cut for the faucet. They want to try and repair this but not replace it. I refused to let them install a kitchen countertop after this mistake and they want to charge me a 30% restocking fee for which I will now file suit. Customer service is dreadful with accents so thick you can't understand them. Never again. Going back to **** ****t for kitchens where the service and quality was always excellent.

The small vanity countertop you have installed is easily repairable. You are simply not allowing us the opportunity to fix it. Because of this, you cancelled the rest of your order. If you re-read your signed invoice, you will see that directly above your signature it clearly states, "Approved returns on all in-stock items (noted on your invoice with the words “In-Stock”) will be charged 30% restocking fee. Special Order, Modified, Discontinued, non-Star cabinetry, Non-Stock, or PRISM painted items are not refundable." Even though your items do not say "In-Stock", we have gone beyond our policy and refunded you with the 30% restocking fee.

My daughter had appliances delivered and there was a misunderstanding concerning the refrigerator. I called and spoke with Hank J****** about rescheduling another day for delivery, he was absolutely wonderful to speak with. He was very understanding, accommodating, very professional. I want to thank Hank for being such a compassionate employee. Thank you **********

Never again. They measured the kitchen 3 times and still got it wrong. I selected counter top and handles but someone changed them both. Hate the countertop. Cabinets included a pantry, but it’s too big. Result was guy doing install cut a chunk out of the windowsill. Some $18000 later no happier now than before remodel. Plus, a knob was supposed to be on a door. But the carpenter didn’t like it there so he put a handle there. This left a drawer short a handle. I had to beg for two months to get another. Carpenter hadn’t told anybody. J Reed

I am doing business with Kitchen Express and for delivery of cabinets we were told they can be delivered in 10 days. When we wrapped up our deal, we were then told the cabinets would come in 3-4 weeks. If we wanted them in 10 days we needed to pay $200 more. Is that legal? Sounds like a bribe since they CAN deliver in 10 days, they just choose to charge you for that.

Sir, our standard lead time to pull, assemble, box, and deliver cabinets is 3-4 weeks. We offer a service for those people who need cabinets sooner to get them in 10 days. In order for us to do this, we have to stop our production line and push your order in front of the others. That is why there is a nominal charge ($149).

I cannot tell you how upset I am with this company. I spent 12k on just the cabinets alone, didn't include install, hardware, countertops, or appliances, strictly cabinetry. We have had the cabinets less than 1 year and every single joint on every cabinet inside and out is cracking and splitting. We purchased the highest quality and most expensive "solid wood" cabinets they offered and then when calling to discuss my issues with the cabinets I was told that I should know better living in New England that these cabinets tend to crack from contraction and expansion. Then I was told something different 2 minutes later that it was because they are "Painted" and they most certainly can crack everywhere in less then a year. We own a home remodeling co. and we often refinish / resurface solid wood cabinets and have never had a customer call to tell us they are cracking in less then a year, let alone at anytime. Upon searching the specs on the cabinets I found this exact same model offered by at least 20 other places all under a different name "Park Avenue" except the specs are different but it is the exact same cabinet, same stock photos being used. Their specs calls for Maple, and MDF. My cabinet specs say Birch and HDF. So I wonder if I was charged for Maple and they gave me Birch, and charged for HDF and its really MDF. I am questioning everything. I wouldn't care if these were inexpensive cabinets or it was only on 1 or 2, but it IS EVERY SINGLE ONE. I have had multiple cabinet contractors come in and told me professionally I have been scammed and they are going to continued to crack due to the way the wood was milled, not treated properly, and then not checked for moisture in the wood before being painted. I told the lady I spoke with that I most definitely would not have purchased cabinets for 12k knowing they would split in less then a year, and if this was the case due to "weather or painting" there should be a disclaimer on the contract or on cabs.

Express Kitchens delivered cabinets to this customer almost a year ago, on 12/21/2021. The areas of cracking are simply the wood underneath the paint expanding and contracting (as wood naturally breathes and paint does not). We delivered these cabinets almost a year ago and were contacted for the first time 3 days ago that “all the cabinet doors are cracked”. Express Kitchens has no control over the conditions in a customer’s house for almost a year, nor do we provide a “disclaimer” as paint cracking is inherent to any painted wood product, and not specific to our cabinets. Please see article below on these “cracks”: Why do I see small cracks in my painted cabinets? With changes in humidity, there is expansion and contraction in your cabinet. The effect of that expansion and contraction are cracks, which show up in the joints, where the pieces of wood come together. These cracks are more likely to be seen (or noticed) on a painted cabinet, than a cabinet with a wood finish. A cabinet with a wood finish has more “activity” in the door or drawer front; although the cracks are still there, they are less noticeable. In the cabinet industry, these hairline cracks are referred to as “witness lines”. These witness lines are not considered “defects”, nor do they affect the integrity of your cabinet doors, drawers, or cabinet boxes. They are normal; you may see them at some point during the life of your cabinets. You may find witness lines: • Where the stiles and rails of your doors or drawer fronts come together. Stiles are the vertical pieces of your cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Rails are the horizontal pieces (think of a railroad that “runs horizontally”). • Where the center panel of a door, or drawer front, meets the stiles and rails. • On the edges of the cabinets, or in the corners where your cabinets are joined together. What is the cause of my cabinet paint cracks? Humidity is the culprit. You may or may not see witness lines in your cabinet. It is difficult to know for sure until you see it. Wood is a natural product; it will adjust to life in your home over time. Can I keep my cabinets from cracking? It would be a challenge for anyone to control the humidity in their home year-round. In the winter, heat dries out the air and causes wood to shrink. Using a humidifier will help control the humidity. In the summer, you may have more humidity in the air in your home. You can use a dehumidifier to remove excess moisture in the air. Neither of these options are foolproof. Witness lines can be difficult to prevent. How do I maintain my cabinets that might show witness lines over time? Most cabinet providers will give you a touch-up kit at the time of installation. If you have a custom color, it is recommended to save some of the paint that was used for your project. ******* ******** can match any paint color from your phone. If you don’t have some of the original paint used on your cabinets, the best color match would be achieved from bringing a cabinet door or drawer front to the paint store, to have them create a custom match. Due to the fact that “witness lines” are not a defect, a homeowner would maintain them as needed. If you don’t feel comfortable with touching up your cabinets, you can hire a painter, for a reasonable price, for small touch-up jobs. Unfortunately, there is not a solution that is fail-proof for preventing any painted cabinet from showing witness lines. They may return from time to time over the years.
