AGAIN! Same issue I am getting tickets where I am SUPPOSE to be parking bc they removed the sign from my street.Review from Rickisha M

Their agents target poor neighborhoods. The street signs are unclear, old or missing so they write tickets that are not violations but because the signs on the street are missing you have no proof of them lying. They need to be fair!

Parking enforcement reviews all areas within the City, and does not target specific areas. There are locations that are reviewed more frequently, due to the installation of metered parking, residential parking zones, etc. We do not target any locations based on economic demographics. If there are locations with missing or unclear signage, we strongly encourage that you report those concerns to our office. When we receive notifications of missing or unclear signage, the HPA works with the City’s Department of Public Works to repair or replace signage, as applicable. Horrible experience with this company. I’ve been unfortunately traveling to ******** hospital everyday for over 3 months as my son was born early. They do not validate parking and have no place for people like me. So I park on the street and used the app for Hartford parking authority. My phone stopped charging and I had to purchase a new one. There was an error with the app on my new phone and it did not go through on me twice. So I went to appeal bc certainly all the other times I paid would show I didn’t disregard for no reason. That the week I got the new phone I realized it wasn’t working and deleted it and re-downloaded the app. It’s still Finicky but I triple check now. They denied and charged me an extra 15$ to read my email. Making my 45$ ticket now 60$ X2 for a 2$ parking spot. I’ve giving Hartford parking hundreds of dollars to park over the months and they don’t care. I hope no one has to go through what I have- working full time, breast pumping full time, single parent with a sick kid in the Nicu and months of struggling driving a half hour with crazy gas prices to be charged because of a technology issue. The Hartford Parking Authority (HPA) wants to first say that we are sorry for your situation and hope all is well with your son. That said, HPA uses license plate recognition (LPR) to see who did or did not pay when parked in a metered parking space within the city. Meter non-payment citations are issued based solely on that fact. In this case HPA identified a vehicle that did not pay and issued a citation. The individual appealed the citation to the City’s hearing office, who work for corporation council not HPA and act as a check and balance on the work we do and found that the citation was properly issued.
