Hired company 6/2023 to excavate an area of our front yard to install a retaining wall & paver walkway, landscaping with shrubs. Asphalt driveway to be removed, initially planned for crushed stone but changed to have paving done by another contractor. Driveway drain requested but not in initial estimate. Installed incorrectly, hired another contractor to remove and replace ($1600). Incomplete excavation and improper grading of walkway. Contractor compensated by adding steps to main walkway, not discussed in advance. My husband took responsibility for allowing one step while he was here; the other was installed while he was out. Sidewalk pitching towards house and too level, not promoting drainage. Contractor says they are too busy to regrade and replace pavers. My husband had to dismantle the 2 steps to make the walkway level so the driveway could be paved. Removal of old front steps damaged cedar shakes. New steps installed higher than old steps) and covering damaged shakes without repairing. 4 shrubs diseased, nursery claims it is beetles from our property. Shrubs have 1 year warranty. 2 have died despite treatment. Have asked for replacement, none provided. Underdrain not installed until after pavers laid, workers had to remove pavers at least twice. Topsoil over drain not raked and re-seeded, tire ruts not raked and re-seeded. Excavation in front of house incomplete, added river rock brings soil level up higher than before. Contractor no longer responding to texts.I wanted to add that the amount we paid for the work was less than the original estimate because we decided not to have the crushed stone driveway installed and we went with pavers/concrete block for the front steps instead of bluestone.

I did send a message to them via Facebook Messenger yesterday about replacing the shrubs and they did respond that they would call me. The owner, David B****, had not responded to text messages last I tried. His son, Jordan B****, also owns the business.
It was our mistake for not checking to see that this business is not licensed or insured.

I texted David B**** September 6th about replacing the dead plants that are guaranteed for 1 year. He responded October 6th:

"Hi Mary, I ordered the Hydrangeas I will reach once I pick them up to set time to meet.

      Thanks,
      Dave"

I texted him again today since I still have not heard from him.

We did submit a complaint to the ** *** regarding a license violation since he never provided one. We could not submit both a license violation complaint and a repair/replace request on their website. David had initially agreed to repair the walkway at an additional cost (which we had agreed to but we did not sign a contract), but then he decided he couldn't do it. He did replace 2 of 4 dead Hydrangeas, but they are not the variety I had initially requested.

After being contacted by the ***, David called my husband, Stan, to complain that he did have a license and insurance (never disclosed to us), and that he had offered the additional pavers to repair the walkway and had offered to cut them (then he reneged on that saying there weren't any extra pavers available and we would have to buy a full pallet at over $400). He told Stan that my complaint was not valid and that he had done what we had requested although he did not lower the ground level near the house as much as requested and he he added steps we did not request. He did re-grade the lower portion of the walkway again, but overall he did not fulfill his own initial statement that the customer has to be satisfied and happy with the work.
