Yes my dispute is with kapora general contractors the services were provided on October 23rd 2022 a representative of the company showed up after listening to I believe a police scanner while my house was burning and said that the property needed to be boarded up when the fire was out and they would take care of that so they had me sign under duress not giving me a price , Fine print on the back Of the paperwork apparently let's them charge whatever they want which is well above the going rate for the type of work they did , in addition to doing services that I did not authorize ( Like an asbestest test) They showed up to help with the count for the Insurance Company the house was closed up by them and they were the only ones with access to the property as it was locked down with A Key of which they were the only ones that had access to and they arrived on the property approximately half an hour before I did and were thrown off the property for destroying property and stealing : of which the contractor Office staff had said that they would adjust for and they did not . Asked for credit for the destroyed and stolen items and an adjustment on the price as I told them the money's from the Insurance Company for the contents will be coming soon and hense they would be paid but I would like them to adjust the price to a reasonable amount and adjust for the damages and theft instead they charge additional money 750.00 for a notice to lean I also think they took additional advantage because I'm a senior .They charged $8729.25 plus an additional 2400.00 for 24 hours of content help when they were there 20 minutes and thrown off the property. I have repeatedly tried to work with them and I'm not getting any results. I've talked to other contractors and charging this amount of money for boarding up some windows and doors is obscene. The Insurance Company made a partial payment for what they felt the job was worth and I paid for the asbestos inspection Please help thanks.

      Good Afternoon Mr. *********,

      RE: ********* *****, ** ******* **** *** **** ********* ** ***** regarding complaint of billing/collection issues

      Response from Shelley K*****, VP, Kapura General Contractors, Inc., *** ***** ******* *********** ** *****

On the day of the fire, 10/23/2022, a Kapura representative responded to the scene to offer our Emergency Service and to help the property owner because this is obviously unknown to most property owners as how to proceed, i.e. securing the property, winterization, asbestos testing, temporary fence if needed, etc which is required by the insurance company, the building officials and the fire marshals.  A property owner cannot leave a scene unsecured because it is a danger to others and a liability to the property owner.  This is not uncommon, it is necessary and required.  There is no fine print or secret as to what will take place and who will be determining and responsible for the cost of these required services.  The charge for boarding up, securing, winterization, asbestos testing, placing fence if necessary, tarping if necessary and any other services to keep others safe.  The cost is determined by the insurance company for the kinds of necessary safety services.  The insurance company will not and does not pay for what is not allowed.  To date, this customer has not paid our company invoice, Kapura General Contractors, Inc. for these services.  On the day of the fire, Ms. ***** the property owner, hired her own Public Adjuster to represent her and on her behalf asked Kapura to do asbestos testing which is in fact standard procedure and part of Emergency Services.  On 12/1/2022, the Public Adjuster (***** **** ********** ********) asked Kapura to assist him with the contents inventory because this was a hoarder situation.  Kapura sent three employees to assist the Public Adjusters employees to go there because of the excessive amount of contents.  Additionally there was no roof on the building from the fire which completely opened up the property to the elements.  It was snowing and there was snow on everything on the property.  The homeowner was angry and threw everyone off the property and said everything was good and didn't want to throw anything out.  The insurance company did in fact pay the homeowner for all of her contents.  At this time, nothing was salvageable.  The house is still without a roof to date and has been subjected to many rain and snow storms, wind damage and all weather events.  The customer, Ms. *****, is now saying that tools are missing.  As I stated before, we were asked to leave and not perform the necessary services to protect the property and contents.  No one from Kapura General Contractors, Inc. stole or took anything.  Our invoice was based on 3 men for 8 hours, the time spent from port to port, from her property back to the Kapura office, helping with inventory.  These charges are fair and allowable by the insurance company.  On 12/1/2022 there were 3 men there for 8 hours for the contents and Ms. ***** threw everyone off the property and has refused to pay the Kapura invoice even though she was paid by the insurance company.  Please see the Kapura authorization to perform services and see the correspondence from Ms. *****' Public Adjuster, ***** **** ********** ********, that she hired.  This is still an open invoice with my office.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me, ###-###-####.  I thank you.

Kapura General Contractors was hired to fix the house I was residing in after a fire broke out in the kitchen. After assessing the damage it was determined that all repairs to the home would take no more than 3 months. I was told that all my personal items such as furniture would be moved and covered with tarps due to the house being repainted. because I did not want anything to be broken I myself moved all my furniture and removed all items from the walls such as tv's, pictures, mirrors and more. The Job which should have been done in three months took almost 9 months, none of my furniture was protected, Items such as mirrors, lamps, dishes had been broken along with the bed frame in the quest room. Not only did they break these items they were also removed from the home. Some of my bed sheets as well as pillow cases had been used to cover up the windows while painting the home, Half of the work that was paid for by the insurance company was never completed like painting of the closets, replacement of ceramic tile floors which was all paid for by *** *****. *** ***** allocated $2,620.65 for cleaning the house The contractors left garbage all over the house. The carpets had not been vacuumed let alone steam cleaned. In addition to the home being left a mess the basement was also destroyed, The original ceiling fans, original sink, along with other garbage had been tossed and broken all over the basement floor.

Kapura General Contractors, Inc. never performed work or had a contract with **** *********.  Mr. ********* was a tenant in the building owned by our customer, ******* ***** (see contract enclosed).  Mr. ********* had no contents coverage with his own insurance company and we did no work for/with the ******** ********* *******.  Our contract was with the ***** **** *******, ******* *****.  The tenant, Mr. *********, moved his own furniture and contents and stored it in the basement which was outside our scope of work.  We did no work in the basement.  The property owner, Mr. *****, did have insurance coverage for carpet cleaning in the tenant's unit, but Mr. ***** decided not to have Kapura General Contractors, Inc. do that work.
