On Tuesday 12/14/21 I paid Lukas L*** $2280 dollars in cash for a 60% deposit for bathroom remodeling. This job, which I have a contract for, included demolition, removal, installation of materials i purchased such as tile floor, vanity, toilet, trim, paint, and door hanging included. Lukas assured me the work would begin within 1-3 days, so the bathroom wouldn't be a mess before Christmas. A series of consistent excuses from Lukas ensued from 12/15/21 until Tuesday 3/15/22 and I have this documented via text messages. When I threatened to ask for my deposit money back on this day, he arrived and started the demolition, doing approximately 2-3 hours of work on that day. Lukas then did 2 hours of work one more time on Monday 3/21 to remove floor tiles and to treat mold under the floor. He has not returned since and excuses have continued via text with promises and no follow through. On Tuesday 4/12/22 I asked for my deposit back, since no progress had been made. He assured me he'd be there by 4/14/22 to continue the work. Lukas nor any his workers have arrived to my house since 3/21/22 and hardly any work has been done. I formally directly asked for my $2280 back on Tuesday 4/19/22. Lukas told me he'd return it by Monday 4/25. Excuses have followed but no clear answer has been provided as to why I have not received any of my money that was given in good faith. Trash has been sitting in my driveway since 3/15/22 that was supposed to be removed and we have been removing it since Lukas is consistently absent and unable to fulfill promises as text messages show.
