Had this company come out to diagnose why my roof was leaking they told me the flashing had to be replaced and the only way to do that is to replace the full roof due to aging of the roof so I agreed and paid $600 deposit when job was complete paid the other 600 and total of $1200 the roof is leaking in the same location and other locations now company came back out and told me it was the siding of my house causing it then came back out again told me it was my window sill was causing it had two different roofing companies come out to check and they all said the job was not done correctly needs to be replaced

      Business response

      05/10/2022

****** called our office in November 2021. I answered the call. ****** said a roof section is leaking and he needed an estimate. Estimates are free of charge. If he had hired us for a diagnosis there would have been a fee to perform that service, just like there would be for any other trade. We went out and gave him an quote to replace that section of roof. This was back in November 2021. He then called around 9am on April 8, 2022 (5 months later) saying we did something wrong and that its leaking again. I was at his house at 10am that same day to inspect. He said he had 2 contractors out earlier in the day and both said we did something wrong and that we didn’t replace the apron flashing (apron flashing was not something that was on the original scope of work because that would require removing the siding along the area where the siding meets the roof to install properly). I let him know that he was never charged for apron flashing replacement but we can install an apron flashing if he wanted us to do that. We told him there would a $300 fee because this service was not part of the original scope of work that he paid for. He agreed to pay the fee, and then once we were done he refused to pay. To avoid any further issues, we waived the fee and performed the service at no charge. On April 19, 2022 at 10:37am ****** said he ran his water hose over the area and text messaged a video of water leaking into a specific area of his house to me. I asked him if we would come out and perform the water test as well and he agreed to that. I was at his house at 12pm that same day. We ran 2 separate tests, one where the water hose only ran over the roof and apron flashing that we installed, and the another test where we covered the roof area over where he claims the roof is leaking from and only ran water over the windows above where he said the leak is coming in from and window trim over that area. We recorded both tests from the inside and the outside at the same time WITH ****** present. When we ran the water over the work that we performed, no water came into the house. After the first test was finished I asked ****** to inspect the decking underneath to see if he saw any moisture. He did not. Then he came back upstairs to watch me conduct the second test where I ran water over only the windows and window trim. 30 seconds into running water over the windows and window trim, water started coming into the house in the exact spot he sent photos and videos of a leak coming in. He acknowledged that this is where the leak was coming in from. I told him we could seal those windows up at no charge to him if he wanted, and he agreed & said ultimately, like us, he wants this problem fixed. I told him I would come back the next day to seal the windows because everything was wet and it would be dry by the next day. He agreed to that. The next day (April 20, 2022) I texted him at 12:13pm to let him know I was on my way to seal the windows, he said “That’s fine I had a roofing company come out today and gave me a quote to redo the work.” I texted him back “If you are planning on getting someone else to do work on the roof it’s probably best I don’t touch the window. We both know after yesterday’s tests the leak that you called us back out to fix is coming from the window trim, not from the roof.” He then texted me saying “You should either come fix it, or give me my damn money back.” From start to finish we were more than happy to fix the problem, we performed work at no charge and we were going to seal the windows at no charge to him as well, but it seems pretty clear to me that ******** intent is not to ultimately fix the problem, but something else, because just the day before, after the tests were conducted, he acknowledged where the leak was coming from. We performed the work he originally called us out for, after 5 months of no issues he called us out for a leak at a specific spot, we showed him that the leak from that specific spot was coming from the window, we offered to fix that leak at no additional cost, but ******** solution is “You just wanna work it out and give me my money back or do I contact my lawyer and bring it to court I have no problem doing either.”

I submitted pictures of the roof leaking in different spots where they put the new roof they came out diagnose the problem and they said I had to replace the roof so that’s what they did and it’s leaking in numerous spots as shown in the pictures that I sent including the original spot that it was leaking from the tank coming out to see other windows for what when that’s not the problem the problem was the roof had other roofing companies come out and tell me I just want my money back or at least half of it so I can MoveOn
