Beware of being scammed by this company and its unlicensed techs that are operating under multiple company names. This company sent out a tech by the name of Ben to our property on 6/22/2023. First he told us he needed to replace the motor which he quoted $1,250. After installing the new motor, he then told us the springs also have to be replaced for $795.00. After installing both, he let us know that the keypad we have is incompatible with the new motor so he will have to come back to install a new one. He never came back. We were now out $2,045 and had to continue to try contacting him for days until he finally answered and said we needed to pay him $450 additionally for him to replace the keypad. He never previously mentioned that there would be a separate charge for the keypad. He should have never installed a motor if it was going to be incompatible with our keypad in the first place. He sent us invoices from 5 different company names which was suspicious. He then bypassed the company, Universal Garage Door, and collected payment through Venmo. When we called this company's answering service to inform them of what their tech is doing, Ben called us screaming, angry that we contacted the company. We are now out $2,045 with an incomplete job and we have yet to hear from Universal Garage Door Repair despite multiple calls. You will never be able to reach anybody at this company except an answering service if you have an issue and they will never call you back.

Transaction took place on January 30, 2023. Universal garage door repair company technician removed our garage door opening system and claimed it is too old. He claimed the mother board in the motor controller system was not working and spare parts would not exist any more for a 20 year old system. There was a sensor problem and he did not want to check for wiring problem. We asked what a new system would cost. He said $1400 for this *********** system. I was in the middle of phone calls to my office. The next thing I heard was that the springs had to be replaced. He gave no indication what was wrong with them. The cost for 2 new spring was $685. Labor was $$350. Tax $145. Total $2580. The problem is that the system is not working and one cannot close the garage door with the remote controller from inside the garage in the car or from outside the garage. The main problem is that the price charged for the motor controller is about 6 times compared to what the system costs at **** *****. The price charged for the springs in about twice as much as retail. Conlusion: we have a system installed that is not working and we were charged a highly inflated price. The system is not working on top of that. The cost of an installtion and labor for a new system like this is about $600 based on a quote from *** ******** ***** ** ******. I have asked the Universal garage dooer repair company to return our old system parts they removed and take back what they installed yesterday AND REIMBURSE FOR THE FULL AMOUNT WE PAIOD AS WIRE TRANSFER TO THE ACCOUNT THE PAYMENT WAS MADE FROM. The technician is to arrive today to do that. His phone number is ###-###-#### from ***** sliding door and garage door repair. He did not give his name I spoke to ***** ******* at *** *** **** at the Universal garage door repair company. He indicated management would call me back today, January 31, 2023. I asked for management phone number and refused to give me that.
