We started our kitchen addition in May of 2021. The project was completed and paid in full mid February, inspected on Feb 16th. During the month of December there were many subcontractors working on the kitchen. The electrical was put in and the plumbing as well. It was one of these subcontractors who had moved the refrigerator and left deep scuff marks in the floor. We have pictures of what the refrigerator was on and then took pictures the day we saw the marks. We brought it up to the contractor and sent numerous text messages to him. In addition when the stove was moved in, which he charged us for despite having already having an agreement with ******** to do it, the floor was scuffed more. Again he said when everything was done and all cabinets were in he would send his floor guy to fix the floor. We have texts from him apologizing and saying he would take care of it. Now all is complete and we reached out to him to schedule to have the floors done and he states it is not his guys and it is our problem.

I have been in this business for almost 20 years and its first time that i received any complaint. This was very challenging renovation project. Existing kitchen faming was 2" off level , we had to install 25' steel beam to open space between kitchen and living room. Inside walls we find live electrical wires, dryer vent connected to bathroom vent and many more problems . We refinish existing old red oak floor to nice white finish that customer loved it. Unfortunately floor was scratched probably when customer decided move old fridge to new cabinets opening that was made for new fridge. My subcontractors set that they not damage the floor so I scheduled my hardwood floor subcontractor to give the client price for repair. They decided to sent complaint for $300 estimate job ,that cost I was willing to split with them. With hundreds my customers this is first one unhappy. I attached few pictures off final kitchen cabinets result and message from owner.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I believe at this point there are multiple things being brought up that are not relevant.  We are not speaking of the difficulty of the project or the fine work that some of the subcontractors did, we are speaking about the floors that got scratched.  In addition all of the other add ons that you spoke about were all paid for in full.  As new hurdles presented themselves we paid in full to have them done correctly by your staff.  In addition lets not forget the hurricane Ida "I thought he did it issue" where no one put a tarp up and 2 inches of water flooded my basement because of lack of communication and no one putting up a tarp to stop the water from flowing into my house.  None of that is being addressed!  To bring us back to point it is the floors that were damaged and the complaint is for.  The refrigerator was left outside and I did move it, one time into the kitchen.  I have pictures of where I moved it and how I placed it on a piece of thick cardboard.  It was not moved from this position until Husy staff put in cabinets, electrical, and plumbing.  I will attach a pic of the fridge after I moved it.

As far as the long dark scratch, that clearly came from the stove as the tracks of it align with the legs it stands on.  I have never touched or moved the stove, not once.  Clearly those marks could not be from me or my wife.  In addition we asked multiple times the cost, if there was any, to move the appliances in.  We were told it would be moved in to coordinate with the plumber and setting up the gas.  We purchased all appliances from ******** and paid for the appliances to be moved in.  Their "white glove" movers.  So in-fact we paid twice as Husy moved in, then charged us after.  We accepted this because at this point we just wanted them out of the house and to finish up, but then scratching the floor was just another issue.

As far as splitting the cost this is the first time I have heard about this.  Since Nov 7th I have not had direct contact with Husy builders, my wife has been doing all of the back and forth.  Her words to me as I just spoke to her about this were "W******* said we had to pay and emphatically stated that his guys did not do it".

From a practical standpoint we waited 9 months for the project to be completed, we were incredibly careful about everything in the added on part of the house.  We spent all of our saved money for this project.  It would not make sense for me to be reckless on my new floor and scratch the floor.

      Sincerely,

      **** *****

I never charged customer any money for bringing appliances to the house not even to connect hood blower (which appliances company never instal for you). Please check attached change order. Yes, we flood the basement but everything was fixed and repaired at no charge to the customer. For that mistake, I felt terrible and I apologized. I have always good intentions to help you with your project and for my own peace I decided to sent my floor subcontractor. I will confirm the date and time when he's coming
