I was given a price of $1400 to open my septic system, install a cap and riser, pump out, inspect with cameras, provide a report and close the septic system. The owner Ernie stated the cap and riser were to cost $400 and the pumping was $350. Once opened we saw the risers were already in place and the tank was cracked. He closed things up and said there was no need to go any further since it now needs to be hooked up to the city sewers (as per our town rules). The bill, in my opinion should have been reduced to $650 since he didn't pump or install a cap. When i questioned his bill for $1000. he began to scream that he needed $4800 for dental work and doesn't own a house or the machine he was using. He also stated that he doesn't have health insurance because he cant afford it. I felt extremely intimidated by his behavior. It almost felt threatening and I had no choice but to pay him. In retrospect I should not have. I still have no idea why it cost a thousand dollars to open a hole. We didn't have to search for the top of the system as it was very evident. He even said so. i feel my only recourse is to make other people aware of this mans behavior and poor business practice to say the least. I wouldn't give this business a single star rating.
