We had damage to our brand new driveway by a company and their insurance company sent out durable seal to seal our driveway. The company came out in May and in July we notice cracks and bumps in our driveway. I called the company to tell them the issue and the owner said he was going on vacation and that he would check it out upon his return. A month goes by and I did not hear from them, so I called to follow up. To my surprise my phone number was blocked. I thought it was a mistake, so I called from my husband's phone and his number was blocked as well. I tried from my work cell which was not on file and was able to get through. When I spoke to the owner he was very irate and rude. He finally came out to look at the issue to no resolve. He kept blaming the original paving company that put the driveway down, but the paving company is said the sealant the company used is the problem. We did not have any issues with our driveway until the sealant was put down. Four of our neighbors had driveways poured the same time as us and used the same paving company and we are the only ones to have this issue.

Driveway sealing is a regular part of pavement maintenance .The coating mimics the asphalt and does not cause it to sink or heave upwards. the 3-4 softball like bumps in the driveway that have developed with cracks on top are coming from something pushing up from under the driveway such as a rock, root, or the underlying fill. Just because they appeared a month after the sealcoating does not mean the sealcoating caused it as much as the homeowner would like to come to that conclusion. The thought that I am responsible and should replace the entire driveway is ridiculous.
